I've taken a taxi less than 10 times in my whole life and not once in the last 10 years. All were plain average experiences from what I remember, sorry

Have a conversation about Oil feild work with a Kenyan native that grew up with nothing but straw lined flip flops and a I Love NY shirt in the 80's. It was a some what long taxi tide from a train station in Twin cities to the Airport in Minneapolis. I'd say we chatted for about 26 minutes. He gave me his number to call him when i was in town to pick me up at the airport when I returned, which i did a few times and he gave me a very cheap fare. Nice guy too. 2012 was a great year.

Once I took a taxi from my apartment to Logan International. I got to the terminal and realized I had forgotten my ticket. The driver said he could get me to my apartment and back in plenty of time to catch my flight. He then sped through the Boston streets at speeds no sane person should ever drive and indeed, he got me back to the airport with seconds to spare. Got checked in, made my way to through the terminal, and got to my flight just as my section was boarding. Needless to say, I gave him a really big tip. It was a business trip so I could afford to be generous Don't know if that qualifies as strange or not but it was memorable.

Houston, TX
Guy picked us up in a van taxi. My brother would reply with one word every time the driver would say anything and that word was "discount?"
He had a rug spread out on the floor of the van and I said it was a nice rug and it really tied the van together.

I never did anything weird. I rarely ride taxi's. There was one time where I was riding in a cab in Chicago where the dispatcher was going on a rant on a driver over the radio

Bantered the driver after his favorite team had lost 5-0. I gave him a tenner in tip since I felt like I was a proper bunghole that entire ride. Lol.

Have an honest driver, they always seem to want to scam you. Trying to convince you that the correct way home is 4 lefts instead of one right.

Have an honest driver, they always seem to want to scam you. Trying to convince you that the correct way home is 4 lefts instead of one right. That happened to me in Chicago. I called a Taxi. I googled first and saw my destination was about 8 minutes away. I got in. Told him where I wanted to go and he said it was gonna be about $100. I got out and left. Weirdest thing in a taxi would be Atlantic City, where my driver opted to drive on the side walk, re enter traffic, HIT a car, not stop and continued to the casino.
