Let's fantasise that Edge's neck was totally fine and he didn't retire in 2011.
What would he have done? Where would he fit in now? Would he still have chosen to retire young at some point in the last six years?

He would have retired probably when Christian did.

Even if Edge wasn't forced into early retirement because of his neck injuries, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have stuck around for much longer anyways. Maybe a few more years, but he surely would have been gone by now.
Since he left, he's gone on record saying that while he enjoyed his career he doesn't really miss it. The lifestyle, the travel. I know he did the Edge & Christian Show for the Network, but he's rarely made any appearances on the current programming even though I'm sure if he wanted a regular on-screen role WWE would find something for him in a heartbeat. He is content with his career and just seems to be very happy living a normal life now. Good for him. It's a shame so many guys struggle with that transition after their ring days are over.
Brock Lesnar said that the best advice he ever received when he was first breaking into the business was given to him from Curt Hennig. "Get in to get out." Bust your ass, make your money and get out while you still have your health before the demons of the business engulf you. Kind of like wrestle to live, don't live to wrestle.

He probably had 2-3 more years max in him, honestly.
He was slowed down a lot from that foot injury he came back in 2010 from.

He said that he retired one year before he was set to retire anyhow. My guess is even if he didn't have the neck injuries, he still would have walked way in 2012. I think he was also emotionally burnt out. He was doing that pretty steady since like 1995, without ever taking time off - unless it was for an injury.

Like others have said he was probably going to retire with two more years anyway.

I feel the character in 2010 was diminishing. I mean Edge still put on some good matches 2010-2011 but was shell from Edge in 2006-2009. I feel like 2012 would of been his end. I feel naturally their wouldn't be much for Edge to do after like 2012-2013 anyways. Honestly even in the sims I have done in the past I had I brought Edge back like how he was but win the World Title at WM 26. Loose it in the summer to Cm Punk. Edge slowly burns back into heel, Edge/Undertaker renew their rivalry in the end of 2010, have Edge snag the World Title and start his feud with Jericho over with roles reversed. Jericho goes over in 2011/2012. Bring Edge to Raw feuds around their in matches with Randy Orton, Cm Punk, and John Cena. Then i'd have him ''magically'' reappear on SmackDown in the end of 2012 to steal the World Title and lead into TLC for the belt at WM 29 with Edge going down to Christian. That's just me.

Same here, I doubt he wouldve stayed more than 12 months. A guy calling himself the Rated R Superstar felt out of place during the PG Era and his 2010-2011 stint was largely forgettable even though he won a Royal Rumble and had 2 World Championship matches at Wrestlemania.

Like others have said he may have stuck around another year. But something that definitely changes is he doesn't get the Hall of Fame. I think if he goes another year or two and then retires, Edge would not be in the Hall yet.
