After being suspended by Global Force Wrestling back in July, the company has announced that Alberto El Patron has been stripped of his world championship.
Alberto El Patron, known to WWE audiences as Alberto Del Rio, has just been stripped of his GFW World Championship following the conclusion of an investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident back in July.
The announcement was made on the official GFW webpage:
“GFW has concluded its internal consideration of the events surrounding the suspension of Alberto El Patron. While it is apparent that initial reports unfairly characterized El Patron’s involvement in the incident in the Orlando airport, we are nonetheless disappointed with the manor in which he dealt with this situation; we expect more decorum from all on the GFW roster, especially the World Champion. We have communicated with El Patron our decision to strip him of his championship title. No decision has been taken as to the date on which he will be reinstated to the roster, the conditions of which are a private matter between the company and El Patron.”

Regarding Alberto El Patron being stripped of the GFW Title, it's believed that the Orlando airport incident wasn't the only factor in the decision. Apparently El Patron has been involved in other incidents backstage at GFW tapings that were not made public but were known about by people within the company. With GFW set to tape almost three months worth of Impact Wrestling shows later this week and fear of another incident happening, the decision was made to not risk having El Patron as champion.

If thats the case then they were just looking for a reason to suspend him. I guess they were waiting for him to shoot his own foot at that point. Makes sense. |

Kudos to them for realizing this guy is a trainwreck, but they still look pretty dumb for ever hiring him in the first place, let alone putting the title on him. All reports indicate they went against the better judgment of dozens of industry professionals who told them he was bad news.

Kudos to them for realizing this guy is a trainwreck, but they still look pretty dumb for ever hiring him in the first place, let alone putting the title on him. All reports indicate they went against the better judgment of dozens of industry professionals who told them he was bad news. 100% support him being stripped. Very happy about it. I think for a company like GFW, Alberto is a solid piece to have. I just wouldnt use him as a centerpiece. I would have used him to help establish the champion I want to be the face of GFW. Defeating Alberto is going to lend credibility to whoever. This isnt like WWE. GFW audiences KNOW all the WWE stars. Personally, I am hoping to see Eli Drake get the belt. He's fresh, fantastic on the mic and adequate in the ring. You could book him as heel or face. Loved the shoot promo he cut on Alberto at the NY house shows. |

They only reason they held off stripping him was to let the TV Tapings run they already had in the can.

Eddie Edwards should be GFW Champion then. He made a great TNA Champion, he could do the same for the GFW Title.

Surely they should know the difference between 'manor' and 'manner'.
Anyway - here's hoping Low Ki becomes the new champion in due course - dude is my favourite, has been for ages and it'd be great to see him as a world champion on a stage bigger than he has been previously.

I like newlegacyinc as well, but i dont let them cloud my judgment on wrestlers just cause they appeared there. I still dislike Russo despite him appearing twice on nL. Ideas like this belong on fantasy booking, not a national promotion lol |
