So I was pleasantly this past weekend with 2 new sweet pick-ups. I was really happy to find the new exclusive Jericho at Gamestop, and I was lucky because there was only one left. I also was able to grab an Elite 51 Roman Reigns at Walmart. So let's get to the review.
This Jericho exclusive, despite its very visible flaws, is probably one of my favorite Chris Jericho figures to date. I think the likeness of the face is very spot on, and I can definitely see Jericho in that face. The hair is colored nicely and is sculpted to perfection. The attire is very detailed and the color just pops. It was a great choice by Mattel. I think he wore this at Survivor Series if I'm not mistaken. As good as a figure this is, I can't get past two flaws I see right off the bat, which is lack of tattoos and skinny torso mold. I completely understand that Jericho's tattoos are trademarked logos by different bands, but I don't know why MDT just couldn't create generic designs. I can understand skipping out on tattoos when Jericho only had one or two, but he has a complete sleeve now. It's too noticeable now to not include. It really takes away points from this figure. I also don't understand why they can't give Jericho a bigger torso, possibly the Steve Austin torso? He's not as slim as he was a few years back and it's noticeable enough to warrant a new torso. I love the accessories though. The pen, scarf, and infamous list of Jericho, wow, really pleased to have that in figure form. My only other small gripe is that they didn't include another open hand to hold the list, just a small complaint. BTW, the packaging is just sick, probably the nicest packaging I've seen in awhile.
Overall, despite those detractors, I think this a solid release. It's a fun figure and will definitely look nice in anyone's collection and everyone should make the effort to pick it up.
Overall: 8.5/10
Now on to Elite 51 Roman Reigns. One of the main reasons I wanted this figure was for the new face. I know a lot of people unfortunately received this figure with the old scan. I think this face is probably the best we've ever gotten. The likeness is very strong, and I hope they use it more fore future releases. That being said, I think that's where the positives stop for this figure. Besides the new scan, it's just like any other bare bones Roman Reigns figure. I think red would have worked better, but I guess if you want it you can just get the battlepack one and swap the vests. I think the gauntlets being painted on is just really lazy. They don't look good at all. They've shown before that they can do intricate paintwork on other figures, so I don't understand why they can't with this. People are paying over $20 for these figures and I don't like how they are giving us less when they're capable of giving us more. The U.S. title is nice, but I've got enough of them. You would think they would add an extra accessory or two considering the fact there's so little detail included on this figure, but I guess not.
Overall: 7/10
