It's the same head. The paint applications on the final product (mainly the ones for the eyebrows and mouth) are positioned slightly different than the ones on the prototype that was shown at the Mattel WWE San Diego Comic-Con 2017 Display. The sculpt by Gentle Giant Studios is fantastic, especially when looking at these studio shots where Shamrock is nearly making the exact facial expression. If a figure head seems off to you, remember that the problem isn't the sculpt/scan; it's the paint applications (the type that's used and the position that they're applied on the head). Yup. I've said before here many times, a good paint application can make all the difference in the world with these figures. The likeness is ALWAYS there.    |

@yessuh they look great. I'm guessing you repainted eyes, eyebrows, & facial hair (the giant)?

There' a lot of subtle things that are hard to pick up on camera, like rosy cheeks, or nose, different colorations to the skin that we experience when making faces, or what have you. So, I start with completely stripping away the existing paint, doing a single layer base coat next, then get to work on the details. So the whole face has been repainted. A lot of times, since they're such a pain to do, I'll leave the eyes alone, like on Shane and Shamrock here. I'll just work around them. The Giant, however, has been completely redone. |

Mattel really needs to invest in a new face scan tech. The paints of the face looks cartoony. Perhaps they need to look into the dot-matrix face printing. Shamrock looks bad imo.

EDIT: after seeing some more pics of this figure I realized that I'm going to get it. What I'm not a huge fan of is the leg sleeves of doom kneepads they gave him and the lack of black on the tip and ends of his kickers. The front strands of the hair looks a little weird, I'll have some fun fixing this figure. Hopefully he goes for cheap on amazon.

A simple kneepad swap with the TRU Cena or any Hogan should work. |

This is one of those cases where janky lighting and such can make a scan look worse. My Shamrock looks better than expected, and I was one who liked the intense gritted teeth scan.

To be fair, both do have a strong likeness to him. But I do agree that the amended version does look better.

I'm actually quite fond of the Stings they've done (Crow Stings, that is). What don't you like about them, yourself? And I actually only collect Attitude/Monday Night Wars and Ruthless Aggression Era guys, usually, so no Roman. Sorry!  |
