Hey everyone. Hopefully someone has experienced this and can help me out.
A few weeks ago I sold an item on eBay and the buyer failed to pay the item. I opened a case against them so I wouldn't get charged the fees for that items, days passed and I still didn't get the payment so I closed the case. I thought that was it however, yesterday when I checked my eBay emails I saw that the buyer filed a case against me, he claims that he didn't receive the item. I don't know how he was able to file a case against me if I had already closed the case for not receiving payment. What can I do in this case? I have to respond to the case but it only gives me 3 options on the site which are 1. Contact buyer (not really an option) 2.Add tracking info (I didn't ship the item because I didn't get the money for it) 3.Send a full refund (I can't refund something that I didn't get paid for)
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I thought that was it however, yesterday when I checked my eBay emails I saw that the buyer filed a case against me, he claims that he didn't receive the item. So, he won an auction, didn't pay, and filed a claim against you for not receiving an item? I would do the "Contact Buyer" option because this should be through eBay's resolution system and it will be a documented message. Contact him and say, you won and didn't pay since you didn't pay I didn't ship. eBay will look at it and see he won and didn't pay. Try opening another case against them on eBay, or at least reference it in your reply to him. I'd stand your ground and fight this, seems like he's been kicked in the head by a mule and is stupid, or trying to pull a fast one.

I opened a case against against them so I wouldn't get charged the fees for that items, days passed and I still didn't get the payment so I closed the case. When you say you closed the case, do you mean you actually went in and CLOSED the case? If you did, that may be this guy's way around. You should have let the case close on its own. If it closes on its own, the buyer will get a NPB strike against his account if he doesn't respond. If you actually CLOSED the case, it looks at though the issue was resolved. That's why the guy is trying to pull a fast one.

Yes, after 4 days without a respons I was given the option to close the case. Which at the end they still ask if payment was received or not. I put I didn't received it.

Your first mistake was closing the case yourself. You'll probably have to send the buyer £500 a month for life as a result of this as eBay does NOT give a crap about the seller, only the buyer.

Call ebay. Its a glitch and they can fix it for you. This exactly. Call eBay and talk to an actual person. Be persistent and don't give up until they fix it.

Call them as others have said. You are allowed to close the case after so many days just as you did and that should have been the end of it.
Respond to the message saying u haven't gotten payment and then contact eBay. Could be a bot doing this anyway. Very strange as he shouldn't have been able to file a claim or pay after case was closed.

there really shouldn't be much of an issue because he didnt pay for the item & eBay can tell if the buyer paid or not because when you pay, the $ icon lights up in your "myebay".

Call eBay and explain it to them and they will shut it down real quick. The buyer shouldn't be able to open a claim against you and even if he did it will show that he didn't pay anything.
