Retro fans should definitely invest in the newest DVD release. It very adeptly coveys the tenor, characters, and, to an extent, even storylines of the time. The selected matches themselves, while not five-star classics, are all fun. From gimmick matches, to one-off team-ups, to character debuts, to matches from abandoned storylines, the program never feels stale or boring. Plus, the absence of match commentary makes you feel like you're privy to some secret wrestling archive storehouse.
Ultimate Warrior at the height of his power, Hulk bulldozing everyone, Ted DiBiase bumping and flopping all around, Undertaker just emerging, Bret growing into a lead role; the assortment and presentation here is so lively.
If you were a fan in the late 80s to early 90s, this set brings memories flooding back. However, if you hadn't seen the original programs of the era, this set provides a truly surprisingly good synopsis.
Halfway through the set, I haven't enjoyed a WWE DVD this much since the Ultimate Warrior memorial release. It's super.

Seeing Tatanka come down to the theme song "Crank It Up" by Jimmy Hart was freaking amazing! I laughed so hard at that, cause Tatanka was trying to do his tribal dance around the ring to that song and not his Native American theme song.
Hogan/Savage vs. Harts/HTM was neat.
Bret vs. Bulldog for the IC Title was awesome! I know Bret talks about it in his book and Vince was kind of unsure since he didn't care for the match, but I honestly liked it better than the SummerSlam one.
Bret/Warrior vs. Kamala/Shango was cool too.
Hogan/Beefcake vs. Money Inc. with Sgt. Slaughter as the referee was fun.
HBK/Bret vs. Lawler/Hakushi was different. Bret takes an ass kicking the entire match.
Diesel vs. Yoko in the cage was fun too.
This DVD set goes perfect before the Attitude Era Vol. 3 stuff, since that picks up at 1996 and goes to 1999.
By the way, this Tuesday the release of the 1997 year by WWE is coming out. That looks like a fun DVD to have if you love that era of wrestling.

Love it. Was waiting for this since it was announced and wasn't disappointed. Some commentary would have been nice but doesn't spoil my enjoyment. Hoping for more from that era as it's the best for me without question. Hoping to see macho v taker, macho Jake cage match and possibly flair piper cage Really disappointed with next year's rumoured releases otger than the macho unreleased one if it happens and STILL no sign of a dibiase or rude dvd they have mentioned as a possible release for 2 yrs running !! Oh and Sean Mooney is brilliant! Lol

I love this DVD set! I'm a big fan of the classic stuff and also a big fan of these Unreleased sets. I really hope they do more of these.
I also can't wait for the day that Superstars and Challenge gets added to the Network. Love the classic footage.

Yeah this set was very enjoyable and I blew through most of it faster then I expected.
I rather no commentary then Michael Cole commentating a match 30 years ago as if it was live.

just rewatching flair v Hogan on the dvd and I'm pretty sure Flair is wearing the Vegas gold belt! Never seen it other than in photos. It isn't the custom tag belt clearly and doesn't look like flairs wcw belt as its a bit more shiny and has a more noticeable circle on the centre. Obviously missed it the first time I watched the dvd. Anyone else noticed this?

I saw this at Walmart last week and passed it up. I figured it was matches that were just "rare" but still commonly seen by wrestling fans. Seeing as its Golden Age stuff, I might have to pick this up.

Yeah, I don't think I've seen any of the matches on this release before... ever. And I've watched a TON of wrestling since first becoming a fan in 1993. Very enjoyable.

I picked it up yesterday and saw every match up to Dingo Warrior vs Jose Estrada. Good stuff so far. They need to release more unreleased dvds. I hear this one was a hot seller on Amazon.

With having the WWE Network it makes sense to bring out DVDs with unreleased stuff on it. If it's not on the WWE Network, than we have to buy the DVD to see the matches. Makes sense to me!

True, but on another forum I was arguing with a guy that wanted wwe to release the rest of the anthology for survivor series. I told him to just subscribe to the network, but his argument is that not everyone subscribes to the network. Maybe true, but if he really wants to see every survivor series, he is just 9.99 away instead of waiting for wwe to release the survivor series' after 96. I seriously doubt they will release them.

I suppose if you are a collector then yes, you would want to have stuff released at all times. But I ended up selling a lot of my WWE DVDs and even Blu Rays after I got the Network. I didn't need three volumes of "Best of WCW Nitro" when I know they have every Nitro on the Network to watch.

I have been having a blast going through them. I am in March of 1995 now for Superstars.
