I'm currently watching Extreme Rules 2010. There was quite a pop for David Hart Smith getting the pin on The Miz to become number one contenders for the tag titles. It leads me to wonder two things: 1. What went wrong? 2. Could anything have salvaged this team?
I remember being a fan of this group when I came back to wrestling during this year. I enjoyed watching them in ring but they were missing something, a mouth piece at the very least. Who could have filled this void, and would it have been enough to make the team last longer?
Thoughts on the team in general?

I loved them.
I always wanted to see them try Jimmy as a manager for them!

I really don't think anything could have saved them, basically because in Vince McMahon's world, a tag team really only exists to eventually be broken up.

I was glad they got a tag title run but they were way better as heels than faces imo. Solid team overall though. Wish they had a longer run.

The WWE tried to mesh the Hart Foundation and British Bulldogs into one with The Hart Dynasty.
David Hart Smith (Davey Boy Smith) and Tyson Kidd (Dynamite Kid) like really??
I liked them when they were the Stampede Bulldogs in MLW. Harry Smith and TJ Wilson - along with Teddy Hart and Jack Evans - could have been the ultimate face group in MLW and could have easily rivaled The Extreme Horsemen group of Steve Corino, CW Anderson, Simon Diamond and Justin Credible. But MLW ended up closing down, and that's when WWE came calling for Teddy, Harry and TJ.
I always felt in Vince's eyes in the past 15 years, that once a tag team wins the Tag Title and loses them, they automatically have to split up, feud, and then one will probably get released (either firing or quitting).
It happened with...
La Resistance Cade & Murdoch MNM Kendrick & London Hart Dynasty Carlito & Primo Stardust & Goldust The Miz & Damien Mizdow
I am sure there are others, but that's all I could think of off the top of my head.

I remember reading all of these crazy rumors maybe a decade ago about some new Hart Foundation faction that was set to debut. Most of these "reports" involved Teddy Hart leading the group and them making a big splash kind of like Nexus when they eventually showed up.
As a huge fan of the Hart family and pretty much anyone attached to the name, I was pretty excited to see the young blood step up. It's strange though because now I don't even remember how they ended up debuting. I'm going to assume it's because it wasn't very eventful. Something forgotten as soon as the segment ended.
As big of a tool as he comes off as, and I hate to admit this, I think not having Teddy Hart involved killed it. He was pretty brash, he could catch serious heat - funny as those were the same qualities that got him fired - and that group desperately needed a mouthpiece. As talented as Tyson Kidd is/was, he wasn't a promo guy. D.H. Smith had a good look and he was the son of the British Bulldog, but he was bland and nobody cared. Natalya was fine in her role. They just needed a prick next-generation Hart like Teddy to get under the fans skin and make them give a damn.
The group never stood a chance as generic babyfaces. There'd be the initial "Yay! New Harts!" pop and it would have died a slow death after that novelty wore off. They needed to be heels and, I'll say it again, they needed Teddy Hart.
I am not a fan of the guy. I just think at that particuar point in time he had built up enough of a controversial rep and name recognition on the indy scene to make that group a successful heel stable. At least initially.

Not splitting up would have saved them, given layers to work with as they teamed for longer on the main roster would have helped. But in saying that, I do love what David Hart Smith Jr is doing in NJPW and the indies with Lance Archer, great team.

As others stated not having Teddy Hart really hurt and more so not have a mouth piece for the group. If they could have had Bret stay around as their manger or brought back Jimmy Hart that would have helped a lot.If none of the above could have happened I think throwing in Christian would have made for something interesting and gotten the the new Hart Dynasty over.Yes Christian real didn't have any strong ties with the Hart Family but he's a fellow Canadian and could have been the single star with The Hart Dynasty as the tag team and muscle behind him and Natalya as your women's wrestler.
