I'm guessing his contract expired. Probably has to do with why we've been getting so many Y2J figures after barely getting any at the start of Mattel's run.

Wow that's a shocker. I'm actually excited to see the battle for best wrestler out of Winnipeg. For people who think WWE is getting anything out of this they are incredibly stupid, Jericho is free and clear to do whatever he wants and it's clearly he wants to do the Omega match. If this leads to matches with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Okada, Tomohiro Ishii and/or Kota Ibushi that would be amazing.

I'd be happy just to see him get back to living a normal life again.

Jericho is a free agent, he’s worked so hard for WWE all these years I’m pretty sure in this era they actually aren’t receiving anything from NJPW.

I think Omega is super overhyped but I'm sure it'll be a good match

I feel like every few months there's a new reason for me to say "wrestling is weird these days."
Wrestling is weird these days.
Also, Jericho made it clear fairly recently that he wasn't exactly thrilled with how WWE handled his request to have NXT talent be part of his cruise next year. They apparently ignored him for three months and sent him on a wild goose chase to departments he'd never heard of to get answers, hence why he wound up working with ROH. He also turned down an offer to be Wyatt's replacement at TLC. Seems like there might be some strain in their relationship.

Well Jericho was doing a show that night with Fozzy, I don’t think he’d cancel a show for a one off appearance.

Omega isn’t going to wrestle for WWE. The Buck sure as hell aren’t either. Don’t be ridiculous.
The reason this is probably happening is because Jericho badly wants to wrestle Omega and knows it’ll never happen in WWE.

Jericho has the cruise next year, and I feel WWE, ROH, and NJPW are doing buisness together.

Jericho isn't under WWE contract, and is pissed that they wouldn't allow him to use NXT for the cruise. I see nothing pointing towards them doing business together.

Reading this made me realize just how many people Jericho has wrestled in his 25+ year career. From Hulk Hogan to now Kenny Omega and everyone else in between. It's insane.

What if this is all a ruse? What if at WK12, the Bullet Club interferes during the Jericho-Omega match and attack Omega. They strip him of being the leader, make Jericho the new leader of the Bullet Club and Omega goes to WWE. It’s a real long shot but that’s what I’m thinking.
Or I could be wrong and this is just a one off match between Jericho and Omega. Either way we are about to embark on one wild ride as fans.

I've got no dog in this fight because New Japan isn't something I'm interested in following anymore [for various reasons] but it's almost hysterical to see the hypocrisy of pro-wrestling fans. We're always seeing people s***ing on WWE for booking "part-time veterans" and "old talent" for the big shows like Wrestlemania. There is always the stance of WWE should book their current talent for Wrestlemania instead of relying on "old part-timers" and bumping the current guys off the show / down the card. People were upset when Goldberg won the championship and had a three pay-per-view stint with the company. Yet.. everyone is praising the holy hell out of New Japan booking 47-year old Chris Jericho to work their biggest show? Weird how that happens. Be excited for this match but nobody b*** the next time WWE throws a "old part-time" talent into the main event storyline.
