New Japan wants to expand and become a legitimate competitor to WWE. Jericho isn't under WWE contract, and is pissed that they wouldn't allow him to use NXT for the cruise. I see nothing pointing towards them doing business together. Jericho is under WWE contract though... No, he isn't. Every time he returns, he signs short-term deals. He is free and clear to do whatever he wants.

Omega isn’t going to wrestle for WWE. The Buck sure as hell aren’t either. Don’t be ridiculous. The reason this is probably happening is because Jericho badly wants to wrestle Omega and knows it’ll never happen in WWE. Reading this made me realize just how many people Jericho has wrestled in his 25+ year career. From Hulk Hogan to now Kenny Omega and everyone else in between. It's insane. He made a name for himself and then made it his mission to wrestle everyone else who has a name too. Plus the fact that he keeps record of who he has faced is a cool little thing. When he retires he will have a hell of a list to hang his hat on.

I've got no dog in this fight because New Japan isn't something I'm interested in following anymore [for various reasons] but it's almost hysterical to see the hypocrisy of pro-wrestling fans. We're always seeing people s***ing on WWE for booking "part-time veterans" and "old talent" for the big shows like Wrestlemania. There is always the stance of WWE should book their current talent for Wrestlemania instead of relying on "old part-timers" and bumping the current guys off the show / down the card. People were upset when Goldberg won the championship and had a three pay-per-view stint with the company. Yet.. everyone is praising the holy hell out of New Japan booking 47-year old Chris Jericho to work their biggest show? Weird how that happens. Be excited for this match but nobody b*** the next time WWE throws a "old part-time" talent into the main event storyline. I would argue that it is a completely different situation. 1) NJPW is not nearly as big as the WWE. Jericho's presence on the card in a high profile match with Omega will do a lot to get them increased exposure in the North American market where they are trying to make inroads. Much the same reason they included Billy Gunn on the card when they came to the U.S. earlier this year. Bring the fans in with known entity so they get exposed to the NJPW regulars. 2) Jericho is not your typical part-timer/old fart. He isn't coming back for a nostalgia pop nor is he likely to get pushed over a regular roster wrestler nor is he likely to phone it in for the match. Jericho will give 100% against Omega to put on a good if not great match. It's not a forgone conclusion that he is going over simply because he is who he is. 3) I'm sure the main event of the show will still be Okada vs Naito for the NJPW belt, as it should be. Nobody is getting bumped down to make room for Jericho.

The reason people bitch about WWE doing it is because they've pretty much failed to create any credible new stars for over a decade. The three SHIELD guys are the closest thing they have, and they all could be much larger than they are with good booking. New Japan HAS new stars. They have Okada, Naito, Omega, and Ibushi. And they actively work to make new stars. Jay White is returning from excursion to face off with Tanahashi. WWE is forced to rely on the part-timers for every WM; New Japan isn't. This show would've sold already on the back of Naito/Okada, and Jericho/Omega is just the cherry on top.

Do you know what happens if his hat thinks his list will make it look too flamboyant or too dorky, or the best in the world? Do you? Chris Jericho's hat, "pen click", You Just Made The List!

I'm guessing his contract expired. Probably has to do with why we've been getting so many Y2J figures after barely getting any at the start of Mattel's run. Guess we can kiss that Best of Attitude Era Chris Jericho goodbye.

Pretty insane this. Who would have thought this time last year that we'd be seeing Jericho vs Omega?

Dude literally doesn't care to commit anywhere, that's probably why he's become a star on his own. Also, people are missing the fact that New Japan Tokyo Dome shows always had one or two major one-off appearances to make the show feel special.

So do we get to see this live if we order New Japan World? Yes. Of course you'll have to be awake at like 2 or 3 AM.

NJPW get Chris Jericho.
WWE ask for Toru Yano, in return.

Very interesting to see this match go down. I'm sure Omega will pick up the win though.

Sting and Warrior? I think he's faced everyone else.
