wait how did i miss that mattel also took away ankle/foot articulation on basics?
so really basics are almost statues, aside from a shoulder joint, and knee bends

also, people saying that "you cant move your bicep 360 degrees"....
you can't move your waist 360 degrees around either, but figures have that capability as well

Besides the shoulders and knees they also have ball-jointed neck, elbow hinges and swivels, wrist hinges and swivels, waist swivel, hip cuts and top of the boot cuts. Basically they went from 20 POA to 18 POA. also, people saying that "you cant move your bicep 360 degrees"....you can't move your waist 360 degrees around either, but figures have that capability as well That was a response to someone saying the elbows weren't realistic because nobody's elbow rotates 360 degrees...so I said nor does anyone's bicep rotates 360 degrees.

I think people are getting too literal here, but it is silly to say the elbow swivel is more realistic. The further the swivel moves from the shoulder, the less it reflects how humans move. If you bend your arm at a 90° angle at the elbow and attempt to swivel it, your upper arm doesn't remain in place. There's a reason bicep swivels have largely been the standard for years and years. There's a reason to many Marvel Legends collectors have issues with the articulation setup of females vs males.
I think the funniest part was doing this as a cost cutting move when tooling new parts is the most expensive part of production. It'll save money in the long run, sure, but who knows when it'll actually pay off, especially when they have to retool basically every arm they've made in the last eight years (or whole bodies in the case of the women (especially a totally new figure like Nia Jax, which was only used once and then completely retooled from the ground up)).
