Hiya Everyone! *waves*
For some of the veterans who may remember me, I've taken a long break from figure collecting.
After Mattel started, I threw in the towel as didn't have the energy to carry on collecting and starting from scratch again. I've kept hold of all my Jakks CS figures and continue to enjoy those awesome memories of searching, hunting and buying those 'must haves'.
With Xmas around the corner, I started visiting some old (and new) places to check out the new range of figures and also to see what I can get my nephew. Gave me goosebumps seeing how well Mattel have done with accessories, classic figures and just the awesome ranges of different packs and series's.
Made me feel very nostalgic, that I had to drop by and say hi to everyone. I've missed the old place! lol
Did anyone else stop collecting after Jakks ceased or am I on my own?

I stopped collecting just before Mattel took over, passing up the horrible DA re-releases. It is very exciting after a while has passed to go figure hunting, definite nostalgia moments.

I stopped after jakks but have recently started getting the odd mattel figure, mainly people I'm a fan of or who have been in nxt/roh.
Looks like we would have been active on here around the same time period.

I stopped collecting for a while after Jakks stopped. I gave in to Mattel in 2011 though when I walked in to a store and saw the Elite 10 Kane. I was blown away by how good it was, and bought it. I've had a couple of breaks since then, but their Flashbacks are too amazing to stop entirely.

Ah another old school member! Not many of us left from that old guard so it's nice to see the odd one show up every now and again. The best days of this forum were mid to late 2000's in my time as a member. I have not stopped collecting since 2000. Though I am being a bit extra picky and reluctant to drop big money on figures these days (thank God for Smyth's reducing Elites regularly!) Welcome back raz, this just a cameo from you?

The whole wrestling scene is crazy to me now. I remember in 2005 being a big Roh fan and if someone had told me back then that Punk, Aries, Joe, Styles and more would work for WWE and have figures made I'd have called them crazy. That's why I mainly stick to ex ROH & NXT wrestlers as it reminds me of when I was younger.

Thanks Layth!!! Really nice to hear from you. What a bloomin' long time it's been! Any other old guard left around? I think i've been struck by the Xmas spirit and have become nostalgic now (since i'm trying to get figs for my nephew). Personally the price of figs now definitely puts me off, seeing Mattel Basics going in excess of £10 odd quid is too steep for me - given elites are even higher and the battle packs are often £22 minimum. I remember the good old days of walking into a woolies and picking up a Jakks CS figure for £6.50, now those were truly happy times! lol. RCD - this is prob the golden era for you then. Seeing your childhood heroes immortalised in plastic On a figure hunt tomorrow on my day off, wish me luck! I'll post my findings and xmas buyings on here.

Asda with the Adrenaline sets for £10 and the CS line went even cheaper in B&M at just £3.99. Though they only got them in from about CS18 onwards.

Maybe one or two scattered people from the old guard may still show up but it’s not many. Perhaps they have moved on from wrestling lol. I joined this forum as a 14 year old and I’m now 27 so that’s almost half my life :-O I didn’t mind paying the Mattel prices when the line first launched as Jakks RA’s were first launched they were in the £10+ range but then they got cheaper as the line progressed...to £5.99 each. But during the last year of the line I noticed RA’s became £7.99 once the recession had hit big time. It’s only got worse since. At-least Mattel basics have stayed the same price for 8 years at £9.99 generally speaking. I only buy the very rare basic if it’s some obscure attire or character we won’t see again. They often remake the basics into elites so it makes sense to wait. Finally sussed it out lol. Smyths reduce their figures quite regular so it helps with my Elite collecting as that’s pretty much the only line I get these days. I can’t even remember the last Battle Pack I got. Maybe Gallows/Anderson? Unless it is a proper established tag team like them or the Dudleys etc I don’t bother with them as I find the choices really poor by having figures which aren’t great for the money with looks that you’ve seen previously in other lines. I only buy maybe one Elite at £19.99 and it’s those that will never come down as they sell to well at that price point e.g Braun Strowman with stretcher. I just get the one then wait for possible reductions or offers after that. Being in a low paid job as a WWE collector is not a good combination so any reduction is great for me. Especially the latest elites at £15 each. If you add that up across each set you want that’s a fortune! Ah you might get the bug again if your nephew is into it. Nostalgia takes over I totally get that 😂 Good to hear you are doing well anyway mate

Nah I never stopped. The Mattel figures looked great at first sight and I knew I'd accumulate a good collection of them over time. And I never really treated it as starting over or making my old figures (I'll fade away and classify myself as)obsolete and treated it more like just continuing with a new line, much like I did with any other line from Jakks like moving from BCA to TTL to R3 to RA.

I've been here since I was 13, just passed my 14 year anniversary so I'm part of the old guard, over half my life here!
