Before I start this, this might suppose to be in the fantasy booking tab. Also, I don’t know much about NJPW or anybody’s contracts, so if something I say wouldn’t work out because of that, you all don’t have to jump in to dog on me for it. This is just a thought I had all day at work and don’t have friends that are into wrestling.
So here we go. January 4th, Chris Jericho will challenge Kenny Omega for the IWGP US Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 12, as you all know, but, as we all know, there is at least a small bit of a working relationship between New Japan and WWE, which is why we were able to see Jushin Thunder Liger in NXT a couple years back. So, what if Kenny tells the rest of the Bullet Club to not come to the ring no matter what, that “it’s personal and he has to handle it alone, blah blah blah...” and Jericho beats him, beats the hell out of him, and wins the IWGP US Championship.
A mere 24 days later, Jericho returns in the royal rumble match. And I have two ideas here:
A. Jericho returns near the end, and who so happens to debut at the rumble, none other than Kenny Omega. Jericho is shook, they end up brawling, and eliminating each other.
B. Jericho returns at the Rumble, maybe number 30. And before the end, Bullet Club comes through the crowd, or at least the members that don’t have any bad blood with WWE (are there any???) and they jump in and beat Jericho down and eliminate him.
Jericho is pissed that Kenny (or the whole Bullet Club) cost him the opportunity for a championship match at Mania, and asks for one at either Fastlane or Elimination Chamber (after a return, brands don’t always matter) and Jericho gets it. And durning the match, Kenny ends up costing him the match again. Once again, Jericho is pissed. Kenny then pops up on the screen and challenged Jericho to a rematch for the IWGP US Championship, at WrestleMania.
I know that’s very very far out there, and will likely never happen, but WWE needs to step up their game for Mania every year, but especially this year if Taker’s gone. And this wouldn’t hurt WWE to have a New Japan guy go over at Mania since a WWE guy went over at WK. It will only draw even more eyes of people wondering if they’ll be back to WWE. And it will make them money. Lots of it. It will cause hundreds, if not thousands of new subscribers to the network in Japan who don’t have it because NJPW is bigger over there, but all those people want to see what happens with their countries, their wrestling company’s championship.
