There have been many matches where there has been two winners of a match when there was only supposed to be one clear cut winner, such as...
-Royal Rumble where Lex Lugar and Bret Hart won the royal rumble since both feet hit the floor at the same time.
-one on one match with hhh vs hbk where hbk super kicked hhh then pin him an got the 3 count except hbks shoulders were on the mat too as was hhhs. it resulted in both winning so it was put as a draw.
NOW THE POINT OF ALL THIS.
I saw a triple threat match where the champion was pinned by both challengers at the same time.
Now with that, who gets the title? How do we settle a result with that outcome?

Restart the match is my best guess?

Restart the match is my best guess? However Triple Threat match states that first pin wins the championship, so does that mean that the two challengers who pinned the champion in the triple threat are now named the Champion?

I don’t know but I’m going by WWE logic when it comes to confusion of who’s the true winner of the match. Personally if I was some sort of authority type and had to deal with that situation, I would restart the match too. It’s just the easiest way to get a decisive winner... unless it happens again lol EDIT: what happened when Chris Jericho and China were co-Intercontinental Champion? Did they both pin Bob Holly or whoever?

Did they both pin Bob Holly or whoever? I looked at that mtatch and y2j pinned chyna and won it was clear cut, however requards to chyna and y2j being co champions of i.c. title. That happen because y2j did a back drop on chyna and he bridged it at first then his strength gave out because he himself landed on a steel chair when he did the back drop on chyna. there were two refs in that situation too and one ref said chynas shoulders were down so y2j won, and the other ref saw y2js shoulders down on the mat so he declared chyna won. making them co champions. I don't know what management did about the results.. I think they had them fight at the next ppv. not sure. If I were the authority type I wouldn't know what to do, except see the match as a draw having the champion being the champion. The match being faulted always gives the champion the advantage so I would say.... the champion remains champion and the challengers pick up the win however they don't get the championship due to the two challengers pinning at the same time resulting in a draw where the champion even though pinned would retain. what do you think?

yinyang yeah, I would have to say make it a no contest with the champion still keeping the title given the circumstances and from a bookers perspective it’ll make a good feud for the 2 contenders fighting over a #1 contenders match for a rematch for the championship.

But you were right in the idea restarting the match, its a decision someone above the ref would make. at summerslam where big sho vs cm punk vs cena for wwe title ... cena and punk made show submit at the same time. And AJ LEE general manager at the time decided to restart the match.

Process of elimination normally right? If they both pin at the same time, they then have a second match to slug out the ultimate winner.

It's all part of the script so it's the bookers decision.

It's all part of the script so it's the bookers decision. Pretty much, it's whatever fits the story they are telling at the time. Sometimes it's two winners, sometimes it's restarted. Personally for the 3way submission one I would award whoever locked the submission on first to help discourage the second competitor to lock his submission on.

I watched the 2016 No Mercy PPV last night, and noticed this when John Cena and Dean Ambrose made AJ Styles tap out and the ref just continued the match until there was a clear winner.

Exactly they would just restart/continue the match until there was one winner.
