In a situation described as similar to WWE Hall of Famer Adam "Edge" Copeland's medical disqualification from the ring, WWE star Paige (Saraya-Jade Bevis, 25 years old) was informed this week that she will not be cleared to return to the ring after her most recent in-ring injury, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources. It is believed Paige was given the news at the Raw taping this past Monday. We have been told by multiple sources she is "done" as an in-ring wrestler.
During a six woman tag team bout on 12/28/17 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island, Paige had her back to Sasha Banks, who was behind her against the turnbuckles. Banks used the ropes to pull herself up and kicked with both legs into Paige's back. Paige, obviously not ready for the bump, went down. She tried to get up but could not get her legs under her, finally did get up and turned to grab Banks, immediately falling down again and rolling over to her back, where she stayed. The referee checked on her and called for the bell. She was examined by WWE medical personnel and a stretcher was brought to ringside to transport her back to the locker room. After several minutes, Paige walked out under her own power.
It was believed at the time that Paige had suffered a stinger, leading to her losing feeling in her extremities. Given her previous neck surgery, WWE pulled her from the ring and set up further testing that led to this week's decision.
Paige had been announced for the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match on 1/28 in Philadelphia after she was injured, but we are told that was before medical testing led to the determination that she was to be pulled from performing as an in-ring competitor. She will be replaced in the match and all signs are that she will relegated to a non-physical role for the company going forward. One would assume the company will devise a way to write her out of the Rumble match without any physicality, similar to how Daniel Bryan is not allowed to be involved in anything physical in his current role as Smackdown General Manager
Such a shame, such a young age, it really felt like she was motivated being back. I feel so badly for her.

. Johnson is usually relatively reliable. If this all winds up legitimate, what a damn shame. Not even a year ago, a lot of us were genuinely concerned about her well-being, and we got to witness a really impressive and positive comeback story. Now this.

Although I don't believe this until WWE confirms it, it will be terrible news if it turns out to be true. Besides, kind of odd that Paige uploaded a photo to Instagram today with the caption "The comeback is always stronger than the setback". If there is to be no comeback as this story claims, then why would she post that? I expect Sasha to be squashed by Nia on Monday as punishment. It's wrestling, injuries happen. There is always the potential for any given match to be a wrestler's last. Do you hold a grudge against Samoa Joe for Tyson Kidd's career being ended?

Damn this sucks I expect Sasha to be squashed by Nia on Monday as punishment. I expect Sasha to have a losing battle against Bliss for the belt on Raw and then after, Paige hits the ring for the announcement and emotions... How I Would Book... plump in.

! I honestly thought Paige was going to grow to be the best female superstar of all time. No joke. I believe she just needed some PPV matches to show us she's the current best. Think about it: - Gorgeous, yet unique looks
- Very high in-ring skills
- Very natural in the mic
- Can play a great face and a great heel
- Amazing music and entrance
- Youth!
- And the rare "it" factor. Her gestures alone communicate and connect very loudly.
This is terrible news.

Damn. That's awful. Can't imagine how bad Sasha feels.
Hopefully this doesn't cause Paige to spiral back to a bad place again. At worst, she can likely become a trainer for NXT.

I feel so bad for her. She’s gone through so much in the last year. Such a young age to be forced to retire. I just hope if it is a serious enough injury to cause her to be retired that she doesn’t rush to the indies just to wrestle again.

There is always the potential for any given match to be a wrestler's last. Do you hold a grudge against Samoa Joe for Tyson Kidd's career being ended? I'll answer your question in as civil way as possible and how invite you to rebut in a similar manner so this thread isn't locked. There is a right way and a wrong way to do a move. From all accounts the Samoa Joe incident was a complete freak accident. Kid took the move correctly Joe executed the move correctly. Wrestling is a dangerous form of entertainment. There is always a risk involved. some moves are riskier than others. Look at Seth Rollins and the buckle bomb. They outlawed that move because it is a inherently risky move that has little to no room for error on either person's part. The move that most likely caused Paige's injury was executed perfectly the day before in a match where Baley used the move. The video that surfaced showed Bailey putting her feet on Pages back and then pushing them forward to simulate a kick. When Sasha banks applied the move she just thrust kicked into the Pages back. I am not a professional wrestler, and I don't know how the move should be executed to be done the right way. But, if we look at both videos it is clear that the safer way to do the move was how Baley did it. Sasha did I thrust kick Bailey placed her legs on Pages back and pushed forward.

Was never much of a fan of hers, didn’t even want to see her return to the company but it sucks for any wrestler to end their career without having a choice. Damn this sucks I expect Sasha to be squashed by Nia on Monday as punishment. Sasha shouldn't be shat on for an accident. Not really fair to call her botch when all she does is stupid bumps. But... but... why would she get punished for an accident? 🤨

It's better to be safe than reckless.
