Really liked this event, definitely have to give best match to Warrior and Hogan (strangest sentence ever) but they really did a good job here. Like you said, not a great "technical" wrestling match but neither seemed to make any mistakes if I remember correctly and they told a great story of two equally match super humans. Sadly, not a lot of classic matches here because of how many total matches were on the card (14 total) but fun none the less. Things I remember most about this, besides the main event, Demolition winning the titles and getting a huge POP afterwards. Andre turning babyface and getting a huge ovation as a nice send off for him. Hart Foundation beating the Bolsheviks in a matter of seconds, I was a huge HF fan so I was glad they got another run with the tag titles. I always wondered why we never got a pay off for the DiBiase/Bossman feud, the build was great starting with the Brother Love segment when DiBiase tried to payoff Bossman to get his Million $ Title back from Jake, only for Bossman to say he doesn't take payoffs and return the belt to Jake. Then to have DiBiase attack Bossman before his match with Akeem at mania. They were both more than capable of having a very good to great match. One thing that always shocked me about the Bossman/Akeem match was how easily Bossman was able to knock Akeem off his feet. In all other matches that I'd seen of Akeem, I don't remember him getting knocked off his feet that much. I think he fell down more times in the Mania match than all other matches up to this point. The Piper/Bad News match wasn't anything to write home about, would have preferred Piper/Rude to have a match here with Rude going over to set up his feud with Warrior (maybe a cage match with Heenan distracting Piper so Rude could escape, that way you don't hurt Piper but Rude gets the big win). I watched a shoot interview with Piper and he said some of the boys ribbed him and that's why the paint wouldn't come off. Apparently it was a special concoction that Vince helped him get and it came with its own removal liquid, however, Andre and Mr. Fuji replaced the removing liquid with regular water (I think) and that's why it wouldn't come off. Loved the Savage/Dusty feud however, their matches were always lack luster (which is hard for me to say since I am a huge fan of both guys). At this point, it was becoming clear that Tito was now the guy to get over new gimmicks/talent, he was the first guy to work with the Model, the Barbarian, the Warlord, the Mountie, Flair, Repo Man, HBK, and Papa Shango (facing all of these guys first on a major PPV or SNME). I liked the DiBiase/Jake match and Rockers/Express match, though you are right, nothing compared to the Rockers/Express match at RR91 though, Shawn and Marty had more experience with Kato and Tanaka compared to Sato and Tanaka, having worked with Kato and Tanaka a bunch in the AWA where know as the Midnight Rockers and Badd Company respectively. Jake and Ted always had great chemistry, love the promo/interview by Jake before the match (one of the best ever) and DiBiase takes a great DDT at the end - loved the way he sold it. It was a little surprising that of all the people Perfect was wrestling at that time that it was Brutus to get the first win on TV (he wrestled Hogan and Warrior a bunch dating back to the end of 1989). But, I think they probably did this to help set up their match at Summer Slam, with Perfect being the IC champion they were probably going to sell it on the fact that Beefcake was the first guy to beat Perfect which puts the title in jeopardy - though I think Perfect would have won had he faced Brutus at SS90. All-in-all a good PPV definitely recommend it. Interest note, well interesting to me, I didn't see this PPV until 1993 or 1994. The blockbuster by me never carried anything from 1990 except for Summer Slam, it wasn't until I spent the night at a friends house that we went to the blockbuster by them which was different that I finally got to see the event. Ah! Kids today will never understand the struggle kids of the 80s and 90s had to go through just to watch a PPV. Good times.

WM 6 had a lot of filler, but overall I enjoyed the event. A lot of people say it was a 1 match show, but Demolition vs Andre/Haku, Rockers vs Orient Express, Dibiase vs Jake Roberts, and the mixed tag were good. Opener was filler, but I liked it. Bad News Brown hated the half black/half white stuff and had legit heat with Piper for it. Didn't Jakks actually make a figure of Piper like that? Hart Foundation's match may be my favorite squash match ever!

ECW- Night The Line Was Crossed 1994 
Your Host- Joey Styles
Mr. Hughes vs Sal Bellomo- I actually didn't mind Sal's Wildman gimmick he had here for a bit. Just a squash match with Hughes winning in pretty quick fashion with his signature side slam.
Sandman and Tommy Cairo vs The Pitbull and Rockin' Rebel in a double dog collar match-Seeing the Sandman in tights is still a sight to see after all these years. The match barely breaks 5 minutes but it's not a bad brawl. Big spot of the match is when Rebel piledrives Sandman through a table. Finish comes when Cairo hits Pitbull with a belly to belly leading to the 3. Not long after this we would get the terrible feud between Cairo and Sandman.
Bruise Brothers vs Public Enemy in an anything goes match-Majority of the match is mostly BB dominating until PE comes back in the end when one of the twins gets hit with a 2x4 leading to Rocco getting the pin. This was pretty much like the last much in that this was just one big brawl with not many high spots. I like PE though. Thought they were an entertaining team and fit ECW to a tee.
Tommy Dreamer vs Jimmy Snuka- Dreamer here was pretty new to ECW so he had to prove himself against a veteran like Snuka. I remember in the beginning the Philly faithful being harsh to Dreamer but this was the match in which he won them over.Big moment of the match is when Snuka hits his signature top rope splash but Tommy kicks out! It takes 2 more splashes to keep em down and give Snuka the win. Not a great match here but very memorable since is really the coming out party of Tommy as after this his popularity grew and the rest is pretty much history. Post match Snuka goes nuts and keeps attacking until wrestlers come out and stop it. Heel Snuka was AWESOME during this time.
Tazmaniac and Kevin Sullivan vs The Original Sheik and Pat Tanaka- Taz/Sullivan were champs right before this but the belts were held up over a controversy that involved the Bruise Brothers. Another brawl here but for the most part it was bad. It was cool to see Sheik though. One of the best pure heel ever in wrestling history. Finish comes when Taz has Tanaka in a half crab leading to Sheik to throw an infamous fireball leading to Tanka getting the fall. Gotta love a classic Sheik fireball spot!
Mike Awesome vs JT Smith- During this time Awesome was a name in Japan. Big spot of the match comes when Awesome dives onto JT on the floor in which JT thrusts his back on the security railing. 25 years later and the spot still looks stuff as hell(clip is above) The crowd went crazy for it and rightfully so. Seeing a big guy like Awesome fly though the air was unheard during this time. Finish comes when somehow JT rolls up the big man for the win. JT would pretty much be a comedy character a year later while Awesome would continue in Japan before getting his big break in ECW during the late 90s.
Shane Douglas vs Sabu vs Terry Funk for ECW World Title- During the beginning here it's Douglas vs Sabu for 15 minutes with the winner facing Funk but if a draw happens they both face Funk in a 3 way. It predictably goes to a draw so here comes the Funker! This is definitely the biggest match of the company up until this point and for the most part it's good. Some highlights include a triple sleeper spot,Axel and Ian Rotten coming out to aid Funk before getting destroyed by 911. The finish is a 60 minute draw just as Sabu dives onto Douglas with Funk trying to pin Sabu. The Philly faithful give the match a standing ovation post match. I wont call this match a classic but it's still very good and a must see for ECW fans. Afterwards we get interviews from Terry Funk and Sabu/Paul E. To end the event we get a Shane Douglas interview demanding they call him Champion. Funk comes in which leads to a big pull apart brawl and we officially fade to black.
Final thoughts- This is definitely a weak show but for fans of this era of ECW I'd say give it a watch for the main event and the coming out of Tommy Dreamer.Everything else is pretty much skippable. Oh yeah check out the Awesome dive by Mike Awesome!Verdict- Recommended(Just have remote handy)

The post match press conference was the highlight of the tape. I love the part where Shane goes "I don't need your belt you old piece of shit!" before throwing the belt in his face. The 3 way dance was overbooked a bit, but it's a classic match that put ecw on the map. I don't remember where I read this, but during the 3 way match a guy was with his girlfriend at the show and she fell down. Someone told the guy to help her up, but he said "wait there is 2 minutes left in the match".

WrestleMania VII 
Your Hosts-Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan
Barbarian/Haku vs Rockers- Jim Duggan is on commentary here in full Uncle Sam attire. HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!. Very energetic opener here with a crowd to boot. Great power vs speed match with the Rockers selling like they only can. Finish comes when Shawn hits Haku with a cross body from the top. This would be pretty much the swan song for Barb and Haku as Haku would leave by the Summer and Barb would do nothing of note before leaving in early 92.
Texas Tornado vs Dino Bravo- Short match with both guys looking like they didn't care to be there. Finish comes when Tornado has em in the infamous claw before hitting em with the tornado punch. In another depressing fact both guys would be dead not even 2 years later. Bad match here.
Warlord vs British Bulldog- I always thought these two had great chemistry together.Match is just about 8 minutes with Bulldog getting the win after breaking free of the full nelson with him then hitting his signature running powerslam for the win. These two would face each other at every PPV in 91 with Bulldog getting the better of em at 3 of those events.
Hart Foundation vs Nasty Boys for WWF Tag Titles- Nasties would win a shot at the belts here by winning a tag team battle royal on an episode of Superstars a month prior. Underrated gem from this Mania I thought. This was the last big Hart Foundation match and it didn't disappoint. Finish comes when The Harts hits Knobbs with their signature hart attack finish only for Saggs to hit Bret with Jimmy Harts helmet for the win and the belts. The Harts would go on to have one more match together during the Summer at a MSG show but this was their swan song as far as full time goes. Bret would start his legendary run right after this while Anvil would go on to be a commentator on Wrestling Challenge for a bit before forming a brief team with Owen Hart later in the year. Nasty Boys winning here was the right choice as they were the top heel team during this time. Good ol' fashioned classic tag match here.
Rick Martel vs Jake Roberts in a blindfold match- This feud would start during the Fall of 1990 on a Brother Love Show segment in which Martel would blind Jake with his cologne ''Arrogance''. Terrible match here with not much action at all as majority of the match was all pointing and walking around. Finish comes when Jake finally gets a hold of Martel and hits em with the DDT. The build to this was great but man this match is still tough to watch nearly 30 years later.
Undertaker vs Jimmy Snuka- Well Humanoids this is where the streak started. The match is nothing to write home about as by this point Snuka was a jobber to the stars but you could tell Taker was going to be something special. Just the way he played the gimmick man just gold. Finish comes when Taker catches Snuka coming off the rope with a punch then following with the tombstone. 1-0.
Ultimate Warrior vs Macho King Randy Savage in a loser retires match-This classic feud started during the Fall of 90 when Warrior turned down Savage's request for a title match which led to Sherri slapping Warrior 3 times and also Savage costing Warrior the belt at the Rumble in January. Outstanding match here with Savage like he always did making Warrior look like a million bucks.Big moment of the match is when Savage hits Warrior with a good 5 elbow drops and it still doesn't put em down! Warrior comes back with his own signature shoulder block and splash but Savage kicks out! Infamous part of the match is when Warrior talks to his hands asking if this is destiny with him teasing a countout. Finish comes when Warrior hits Savage 3 times with the shoulder block to finally get the win. Great match and no doubt about it Warrior's finest hour. The match itself was fantastic but you add in the drama and hot crowd and you got yourself a timeless classic. Post match Sherri attacks Savage leading to Elizabeth coming from the crowd to save the day and reunite with the Madness. Good feel good moment here. All around good stuff.
Intermission time as we get interviews from Taker, Demolition,Genichiro Tenryu and Koji Kitao and Jake Roberts. Regis Philbin and Alex Trebek(prayers go out to him during fight against cancer) are doing the interviews. Gotta love intermission.
Genichiro Tenryu and Koji Kitao vs Demolition- Short match with a dead crowd. Demo by this point were on life support and this match proves it. Tenryu and Kitao with the easy win after Tenryu powerbombs Smash for the win. Man it's still sad to see how far Demo has dropped since the previous Mania.
Big Boss Man vs Mr. Perfect for WWF IC Title- The feud here is another one that started during the previous Fall after Bobby Heenan would rip on the Boss Man's mother leading to the Cobb County native getting revenge by going through all the family members. Lord Alfred Hayes is on commentary here. Always thought he blended best with Gorilla. Decent match here but nothing to write home about. Late in the match Andre the Giant comes out to counter the interference from the Brain. After Perfect removes the turnbuckle Andre hits em with the belt leading to Boss Man going for the pin but here comes Haku/Barb for the DQ. Post match Andre helps out with clearing the heels from ringside. To this day I still say they should've gave Boss Man a run with the belt even for a month. It would've fit the revenge story but oh well overall the match was still decent. It was also good to see Andre get one more Mania moment.
Earthquake vs Greg Valentine- Pretty much a squash here as like Snuka, Valentine was a jobber to the stars by this point. Hammer tries for the figure four but is distracted by Jimmy Hart leading to Quake disposing of him with his signature Quake splash.
LOD vs Power and Glory- Total squash here with LOD winning in about a minute with the Doomsday Device. Shame they never gave P&G as they were always a solid team I thought. all this match did was push LOD as the big babyface team now that the Harts were done.They would get the belts at SSlam that year.
Ted DiBiase vs Virgil- This feud is another one that was a great story with great build but the match? not so much.Piper is in the corner of Virg here and is on crutches here after a bike accident he had around this time period. Finish comes when DiBiase attacks Hot Rod on the floor only for him to retaliate and low bridge the money man with his crutch leading to a countout win for Virg. Post match Sherri would come out and help DiBiase attack Piper leading to a brief feud between the two after Mania. Bad match here but the match they would have at SSlam would be wayyyy better with a good ending to the story.
Mountie vs Tito Santana-More filler here with Tito like the others by this point.....yep you guessed it a jobber to the stars. Mountie with the shock stick for the win after not even 2 minutes. He would go on and start his famous feud with Boss Man after this while Tito would be repackaged that Fall as ''El Matator''.
Sgt. Slaughter vs Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Title- Regis Philbin is on commentary here and for the most part isn't bad.This was a perfectly fine main event here but the ending obviously was never in doubt. To me I thought Sarge was a good heel champ even though he was only given the belt to drop it to Hogan in the end. Sarge at one point hits Hogan with a chair leading to a blade job which to see blood during this time period was rare. Finish comes when Sarge drapes the Iraqi flag on Hogan only for him to kick out, Hulk up, Big boot and leg drop for the win and title. During this time he was the only guy to win the WWF World Title 3 times. Typical Hogan posing closes us out.
Final Thoughts- Like 6 this Mania does have a lot of filler but that doesn't change the fact this event still holds up. You have a solid opener, Fun tag title match, The streak is born, The classic Savage/Warrior match, and a decent main event. Plus this was the 1st PPV with Gorilla and Bobby together in the booth. Solids thumbs up from me.Verdict- Highly recommended

Still one of my favorite Mania's. Had some good matches, but like you said also had a few filler matches. Stand out here is the Macho/Warrior match, to this day my 2nd favorite Mania match of all-time (behind only Bret/Austin at WM13). Such a great match here, I don't remember seeing any mistakes. Savage and Warrior had such great chemistry together, I always thought that Savage got the best out of Warrior. The build-up to this match, the match itself, and the after match drama was just great - one of the best WWF has ever done (IMO). Second favorite match of the night was the Hart Foundation vs. the Nasty Boys, very good tag match, Nasty Boys take some really good bumps here making the Harts look great. I didn't mind the Nasty's getting the title here, would have preferred Power & Glory, either way, both were just carrying the title until they could drop it to LOD. Speaking of LOD, you could see from their first day in the WWF that they were going to be the champs one day. As for there match, I watched a shoot interview with Paul Roma and he said that the reason for the short match was Hercules had a minor injury and he had a staff infection. Roma said he told the office that he couldn't make it to Mania for the match with LOD because of the infection, later the office said what if it were just a 1 minute match, so Roma and Herc agreed. If you look at Roma in the match you will see his elbow is bandaged up a lot more than usual for him. I loved the DiBiase/Virgil/Piper feud, well done, but I agree with you their match at Summer Slam was a lot better. I actually didn't mind the blindfold match, though technically not a great match, I thought that Martel and Jake made the best of a bad idea, and they really treated us to a very good psychology match. The main event was okay, nothing great, probably because we all knew Hogan was going to win. All-in-all a good Mania. |

Best match of all-time right here. Warrior vs Savage. This match showed me that Savage was the best performer every in the WWE. What he got out of Warrior... no one else ever came close.

Loved ultimate Warrior vs Savage I used watch that a lot when a kid but is there two visions of that same match I watch it other day and seems there bit cut off it same with some of the matches are bits missing as notice during earthquake vs Greg the hammer valentine
