Well, it's here. 10 years after the surprise release of Cloverfield, JJ and Bad Robot have done it again; in a HUGE SURPRISE marketing move, dropped the title, poster, and first trailer HOURS before the movie was released to Netflix.
I stayed up late to watch it last night, because I LOVE the first movie, and 10 Cloverfield Lane.... I'm still processing, and will need to watch it all again, but my basic understanding to the "WHY" question posed in the trailer is a chaotic Mulitverse caused by the particle accelerator used in this movie.
The events of this movie, directly affected all these different worlds and times, kind of lame catch all to just do whatever wacky stuff they want in future installments and go "Oh, Mulitverse, remember?"
For me, the entire movie was worth it for the last 10 seconds.
But seriously, share your thoughts, your theories, your likes, your dislikes... I'm just excited as hell to talk Cloverfield again!!!

I thought it was awful. It suffered from a weak script, poor dialogue, a lack of depth in its characters, and all of the Cloverfield references were shoehorned in. It felt like a made-for-TV movie, and is definitely the weak link of the series.

I enjoyed the movie. Not as strong as Cloverfield but definitely stronger than !0 Cloverfield Lane. Still wish they went with the original idea that was rumored for the sequels all being different perspectives of the original event.

I really enjoyed it. I was hooked right from the start, my only issue was the woman from the other dimension, I knew from the get go she was going to screw everyone over.
This Colverfield universe is a lot of fun, but at three movies in I want to actually know something now! What are the monsters/aliens? where did they come from? is this all happening at the same time? in the same universe? and so on. I know that some people love when things are left to the imagination and to an extent I do. But with this franchise being ten years old now and with a fourth movie on the way I want to know more damn it!

Don't forget that this, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and the upcoming "Overlord" (Cloverfield 4 that's a WWII movie) are all separate movies first then get the Cloverfield stuff slapped on them. I don't believe the last three outside of the original Cloverfield were thought of as Cloverfield universe movies first. Its largely why 10 Cloverfield Lane is largely a thriller in a bunker that ties into Cloverfield at the end, but if you stripped the monsters at the end out it can stand on its own as a fun thriller.

Just watched all 3 for the first time and thought the new one sucked. 10 Cloverfield Lane was probably the best out the lot.

Just watched it. I liked it. At least the first half, 2nd half kind of lulled on and got boring, but I liked the guessing game and kind of Cronenberg style body horror.
It got me to immediately watch 10 Cloverfield, which I missed the first time.
Interested to see how this series develops and if we'll ever see a direct sequel or tie in to a previous installment. I kind of like the idea of these being a Twilight Zone style series where the Shepard stuff opens the door for events in other timelines and realities.
Unless I'd done extra reading afterward, I wouldn't have realized that Leslie from 10 and Paradox were the same actress or that Howard and Donal Logue's characters shared a last name.

I followed the Cloverfield campaign from day one, and was completely enamored with the whole thing. It heightened my love for the film itself that much more when I saw it for the first time, and I still love it to this day. When people see the movie years later and like it, but don't understand why I love it so much, it makes me sad that they couldn't experience everything that went along with it.
10 Cloverfield Lane is an excellent film, but it's not a Cloverfield movie, and I've opted just to not look at it that way. Even still, I don't think it did anything to directly impact the story or the legacy of the original movie.
I can't say the same about Paradox. Not only is it not a very good film, but I hate that it tries to explain the monster and, in a roundabout way, undo the official story of Cloverfield (even if the monster's origins are never specifically referenced in the first film.) If you followed the Cloverfield campaign at all, or even looked back on it years later, you know that the monster is an infantile alien creature that was (probably) awoken or hatched from the ocean when a satellite crashed down and disturbed it. That's the story, that's all we need to know. The multiple dimension stuff is totally unnecessary. Cloverfield already had an origin story.
The Paranormal Activity franchise did the same thing, and I hated that too. The original film scared the living hell out of me, and a lot of that was because there were so many unknowns. By the time the franchise wrapped up, those questions had all been answered and then reanswered a hundred times and there was no mystery anymore. The curtain had been pulled all the way back. Sometimes, a good haunt should just a good haunt. And, as it pertains to Cloverfield, a good monster movie should just be a good monster movie.

My thoughts after finishing the movie...
"That was okay."
It was a bit of a disappointment if you compare it to the other two. It had some solid acting and an interesting story. I thought it was paced well. The funny guy was a bit forced and the CGI seemed lacking considering the budget. I feel like it could have done a little more with the characters and a bit less exposition. "Show don't tell." It's worth a watch at least once if you like the series or sci fi in general.
