You need to look at the loyalty factor. If anyone else played him they could've possibly jumped to WCW but Mark stayed loyal to the company and has made the character last nearly 3 decades.
In all honesty if anyone else played The Undertaker he would currently be in the long and distant past.

I’m sure there’s a few guys that could of pulled it off, but nowhere near the long tenure that Mark did. You had so many versions of Taker, including the ABA Taker. I recall Jericho calling him “The Madonna of Wrestling”. That's my thing. He got to alter it to be a biker, to be a legend that works great talents in his latter career. He had lots to go on, not to diminish his accomplishments. But the person who never gets the credit and in my mind was so much more important to the original gimmick's success was PAUL BEARER. And I truly truly believe that he is the one that could never ever have been replaced by anyone else. Only William Moody could have done that sooooo effectively. And I believe that despite what is said about Mark Calloway, that gimmick would have been dead (no pun intended) without Paul Bearer. That's what made the whole thing magic and even I took days to get on here and give him his credit which I'm ashamed of. People are right about longevity, but I seriously believe at least that initial run with any other decent sized guy with presence would have at least worked somewhat as long as Paul Bearer was in the mix. Yes Bearer was a big part of it. But it wouldn’t have worked with anyone smaller than Calloway as the Undertaker. He needed to be larger than life to pose a threat to Hogan. And anyone as big or bigger wasn’t nearly as athletic or had the mannerisms as Calloway. Sid was probably the closest athletically but he couldn’t have gotten the cold dead mannerisms that Calloway brought to the character in the ring and in the interview segments. So Calloway was the only one who could have successfully did what the original Undertaker was.

Kevin Nash is the only other wrestler I could think of that could actually play the role in the early stages. If you remember back to his Master Blaster Steele & Oz days he had a creepy look to him. Longer, colored hair he would have had the look for the role. I dont think it would have the longevity though.

Danny Spivey would have been interesting in the role.

I think several big men could have played the role. Nash was a good one, but unlikely. I think Danny Spivey would have been a logical pick, but he was injury prone. I think Mark got the role over and it stuck. If somebody else played it, it could be listed as one of those awful gimmicks from that time period. Also, I believe Hogan was the one who liked him due him being in the movie with Hogan. He already had several great reviews from guys like Dutch, but it could have easily been scrapped when he had that low point where he kept losing to Sid and Warrior could have put a nail in the coffin, but he turned face and he really took off after that.

Danny Spivey would have been interesting in the role. That’s who I thought of too, Really he could have made it work almost as well, definitely nowhere near as long or had a world title with it, but I think Spivey at least would have been a believable option.

Yeah no one but the Undertaker could be the Undertaker, but hey let's ponder Bret Hart for the laughs. Gets repackaged... Hitman is Undertaker. I think to be a man who doesn't sell you have to be a tall dude who didn't look like he could sell. Maybe Kevin Nash could be Undertaker, but I think Nash is too animated. Then again TV loves to put animated people in the most drab roles.

No one else could've pulled it off the Way Mark Calaway did.
