I went to an Evolve show last night. The last time I went to a show promoted by Gabe Sapolsky, it was under very similar circumstances, when I went to ROH's sixth show ever. On that show, I knew of two names on the card - Little Guido and Maverick Wild. This time, I at least was familiar with eight names on the card, but only really knew of five. I got to meet Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, and Orange Cassidy. I knew nothing of OC before going into that show, but I'm really glad that I opted for that photo before the show now, having seen what he does. I also got a fist bump from Matt Riddle. I can't wait until Josh Briggs makes it huge and I can say that I was at his debut match back in 2016. I saw Gargano and Ciampa back in 2015 (I think) when NXT came to Aussie, I sat at ringside and got photos with them, lemme see if I still have the photos on my phone I've seen them each work at least once...together as DIY back in 2016, and then Gargano on his own after Ciampa went down the first time in 2017. Last night was just an appearance bit coming off the 10th anniversary show the night before. Gargano did an in-ring bit imploring Briggs to chase the Evolve Championship, but that was it from the NXT guys other than Riddle's match. My big gushing point to Ciampa last night is that around 2016 I finally took the plunge and got invested in my local indy, well after he'd gone on to more prominent pastures, having come up through the organization. I missed everything. At least I got to see Dijak and Hanson a handful of times before they got signed. I'm all but certain my first real "I saw them when"s with this group are going to be Anthony Greene and Josh Briggs.

Immune, Kronic and Meg are all from the same town and went to the same school in Ohio or Indiana I believe. To my knowledge, yep. Rev and Schneider too, I believe. Back to CM Poor and his comment about people knowing too much about people here and willingness regarding information. don't lump me into those yahoots. I'm from Indianapolis proper, they're outliers on the northside.

I've never been to a live wrestling show. I know it's commonplace to goof on the commentary today but I enjoy having a voice call the action as opposed to just...sitting there. Plus, people can be annoying at events. Same with baseball games. Been to a lot in my time but I would've rather listened to Mark Grace and Thom Brennaman call the action or listen to Greg Schulte and his amazing radio voice rather than watch it myself, especially slow games. Also pretty sure I know why CM Poor's post about his characters was deleted but allow me to retort: #whataboutsmash #smashgate #smashmatters #bringbackthesmash #letmewriteforsmash #morethanuber

Gotcha but #whataboutsmash #smashgate #smashmatters #bringbackthesmash #letmewriteforsmash #morethanuber xD The Smash experiment is one that I had a more grandiose vision for that, unfortunately, came about when the time/passion I had to afford such an endeavor went in the opposite direction. Smash is on the shelf for the time being. I've only let two other writers pen characters of mine unguided, and I doubt that's bound to change anytime soon. Sorry.

There's something so insufferable about the broadcast team out here, to me at least. Other people consider them part of the fabric or whatever, but I'll be the first to tell you I hate 95% of whatever facets make up "Red Sox Nation", that name included. The only drawback to attending a game, to me, is having to sit through Neil f*cking Diamond in the 7th whether we're trailing or even making any sort of showing. Otherwise, there's something untouchable to me about sitting in the stands, getting completely suncooked and gorging myself on overpriced beer and hotdogs. F*ck. I haven't been to a game since Ortiz's farewell season and now I'm all into the idea.

I'm assuming he lived the murder attempt eh?

Smash is on the shelf for the time being. I've only let two other writers pen characters of mine unguided, and I doubt that's bound to change anytime soon. Sorry. Fair enough. Reading it back, this comes off a lot colder than I'd intended it to be. It reads like an indictment against your capabilities, which it wasn't meant to be at all. Reading back through the two second-stage Rodriguez RPs I posted, there's a lot of story element floating in the ether that I had wanted to touch upon, back before his return was anything more than a theoretical possibility. When it came time to do it (out of necessity's sake), I was stretched thinner than I could ever hope to physically be, completely burnt out both mentally and creatively, and bordering on ill at the mere mention of WFWF. Ultimately, it fell flat by way of circumstance. I don't hate those RPs now as much as I did then, but reading them back, there's nothing there that makes me want to dig the character up and grant him a new lease on life - not anytime soon, at least. Were that ever to happen, I'd want to exert a heavy degree of control over it, if for no other reason than to try and execute what I failed to put on to paper last year. The odds of a Rodriguez return are slim to none right now, probably only just a pinch more likely than a Daniel Kirkbride return, but creativity ebbs and flows, so who knows what tomorrow may bring. As for my poorly stated comment about others writing my characters...there's a really, really humorous example of my character in the hands of another, early on, without my permission, that still stands to this day as sort of a trigger point whenever anyone asks to write on my behalf. You are, without questions, leaps and bounds more talented a writer than Carter Contra, but I tend to reserve such willingness to forgo creative review until someone's developed a proven rapport with me and a thorough understanding of what I'm trying to convey, characteristically. That's probably a higher bar than I ever need set for a nothing-character like SR, but all the same, the only two people I've willfully allowed to write my characters without first asking to review the content before it goes live are Drakz and Kyzer, who'd each granted me similar privileges during our run together as TNE. It's nothing personal.

I do appreciate the compliment though, from the last post. Something about being leaps and bounds better than another veteran writer. Yeah, I appreciate that.

Something about being leaps and bounds better than another veteran writer. Yeah, I appreciate that. I liked Carter, but he had a niche approach that he was unwilling to break, which I think became his creative Achilles heel. How many times can one feasibly write the formula of [Present day scene establishing one's conundrum] > [Flashback scene to one's experiences as a child at the local arcade] > [Monologue in present day serving to align the two scenes and establish a sum of the parts that says why one will win their coming matchup] before it becomes a redundant chore to write for the ever dwindling audience of people who still want to read this week's take on it? It's a damn shame too, because Carter was enthusiastic and talented enough to hold his own in an area of the card that's constantly under duress, but I think he kinda burned up his reserves and wasn't left with anything else to put forth. He also had a fresh take, which is an endangered species in the realm of e-fedding, amid the ever rising tide of the couple of dozen tropes that overpopulate the character arc and overall booking pictures. It's so refreshing when someone's character isn't the textbook outcome of a troubled childhood/substance addiction/baseless propensity for violence/narcissistic personality disorder. There are certain story arcs and such that, after 18 some-odd years of e-fedding, I never want to see again (in spite of my own complicity in certain cases).

The roster was pretty heavy when I first came in with Brennan, and so I tend to classify the names I remember from that general time frame into names I remember for good reason, and names I remember for bad reason. In spite of my constant retreading of his faux pas in writing Brennan without my seal of approval for a tag match we had, Carter generally falls into the former. He was at least semi-consistent, had a generally positive attitude, and at least had some semblance of an idea as to what he was doing. He's been offline for about six years, but I wouldn't shudder if he signed up again tomorrow.

I linked one in my initial mention/apology-esque post, but that's the one I generally harp on, so maybe not the best example. His stuff kinda erred on the "shot and silly" end of things, but I always remember enjoying the light nature of Goth-Looking Clerk. He definitely had a market cornered as one of the more lighthearted characters, but I dunno, I dug it.
