Never laughed so hard at a match in my life than Hogan vs HBK.
Shawn's comedy bumping was hilarious and glorious.

Usually I'm not a fan of a wrestler trying to sabotage another wrestler in a match over backstage politics, but honestly, Hogan deserved it. He played his cards yet, and HBK had the great response, fine, you'll go over, but I'm going to make this match look like a joke. And low and behold, the very next year, Hogan once again winning a match, he had no right winning, against Orton.

Shawn’s attire and over-selling was the best thing about that match lol

Shawn Michaels was always a punk, plain and simple. On the worst day of Hulk Hogan's career he was a bigger draw than Shawn Michaels, he did not owe Michaels a damn thing.
Same for for the WWE itself. Hogan came back and out over The Rock, Kurt Angle, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar. All in pretty damn good outings all things considered.
He was entitled to winning a big match, over another veteran. He pulled that card for Summerslam 2005. Honestly it made sense, HBK is on a lower tier of stardom than the guys I mentioned earlier, he was lucky to be in there with Hulk and get the payday. 500,000 ordered that PPV and DC was very pro Hogan, they went home happy. No harm, no foul.
Now the next year is another story, 06 didn't help anybody. Hulk did had some drawing power left, and the company was trying to squeeze it out. Randy wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire and had been suspended recently, not like he deserved better.
I'll leave saying that I believe that Shawn Michaels never took legitimacy seriously enough for my taste. Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, imagine them bumping like an idiot and undermining a big time match. It wouldn't happen. Shawn Michaels was a top rate entertainer, but didn't take it seriously.

I watched this the other day. Pretty funny.
I get the point of view that he should have taken it more seriously but kind of understand why he did it.
Both were icons at that point and I believe Hogan wasn’t keen on returning the favour. At that stage of their respective careers wins and losses wouldn’t make a difference to their drawing power/status in the company so each getting a win would have been better.
Plus we would have got two matches that way and would have been better for the fans.

I was there live for this match. The funny thing was that on the metro there and being in the crowd live before the match everyone was against hogan. Then real american hit and the crowd including myself was turned and everyone was for hogan. Match itself wasnt that bad live and the crowd was really hot for it.

Does anyone know what Hogans reaction to this was? Has he done any interviews or anything like that about it?

Theres a moment early in the match when Hogan realises what Michaels is at. His face says it all.

I had Hogan sign my 2 pack of this match. He just shook his head. Lol.

I’m never sure about Hogans integrity but he doesn’t sound convincing with his side of the story.. And decky, you’re right his face is a picture. When he throws his bandana at Michaels, he looks legitimately pee’d off. Would love to have been a fly on the wall backstage after the match

I can't feel sorry for Hogan given how many people he's buried over the years.

Shawn's selling is certainly funny, but it is a bit much. Out of context and politics, I almost feel bad cause it was an otherwise well worked match (up until the no selling after the superkick). Hogan seemed to blade pretty deep to? It was a tad much for my taste, anyhow--obviously its not an exact science though.

Now imagine if it was someone like Andre or Harley Race in the ring, Shawn's career would've ended.

Yep. Nothing like paying 50 bucks for a main event where one of the guys goes into business for themselves.

While "funny" it just shows what an unprofessional jerk HBK can be.
Or at least you could say that if it wasn't planned. Hogan is a business man. Not the smartest, but not the dumbest. He had to have known what was going to be the plan.

Hogan did the same thing during this time. Instead of getting the 3 matches they were going for, we got the one crap fest we did. Hogan all of a sudden had back problems when it came time for HBK to get his win back. And I'm a fan of both. But also I can't deny that both men were massive jerks.
