I want to see what you think would have happened if Andre said he wasn't going to lose. Or if during the match Andre just decided to beat Hogan swerving everybody to win the WWF World Championship. What do you think would have happened and how things would have changed during that time period?

WM3 was designed for Andre to pass the torch. Its kinda hard thinking about it any other way.
Also his body was breaking down pretty badly at this point. I doubt he would have had anything resembling a decent run with the title.

I think what would have happened would be that Andre would win and be WWE World Champion at Wrestlemania III.

I would have loved to have seen André the Giant win the WWF Championship Title and use the André 87 Belt…but not at WrestleMania III. Doing the Title change at WM III would have killed everything they built for Hogan up to that point. I think André should have “won” the Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event, in controversial fashion of course, then debut his custom Championship Title Belt, and proclaim himself to be the “real” Champion. Then we could have seen a unification match for both the Hogan 86 and the André 87 at WM III. I believe this would have made the greatest WM moment even greater with Hogan holding 2 Championship Title Belts.

If Andre said he wasn’t going to lose, then the match wouldn’t have gone ahead.
I’ve always thought that it would have been great if they had a rematch at the next SNME. Dibiase and Brutus Beefcake second Andre and Hogan. MDM interferes, but it backfires and costs Andre the match. Afterwards, the heels argue with Heenan slapping Andre. The Giant then manhandles his manager but is attacked by Dibiase. Andre beats up Ted leaving him out cold. Brutus, then shaves Dibiase bald humiliating him.
Take Dibiase off tv for a couple of months then comes back with a “corporation” stable of the top heels, including a young Mark Calloway in an enforcer type role. Calloway could be responsible for taking Andre out of action, building his heat. Dibiase also challenges Hogan at the inaugural Royal Rumble. With the help of his stable, MDM wins the belt and after the match, “Mean” Mark destroys Hogan, also taking him out of action.
Hogans new friend, Macho Man, incensed by the actions of the corporation, challenges Dibiase at WM4 and wins the belt. Macho and a returning Hogan form the Mega Powers and feud with the MDM and his stable. They split up in similar fashion and then we still have Savage v Hogan at WM5.
Sorry to hijack your thread ryan93 but thought I’d share anyway

Andre was retired or semi retired at the time. If he won, HulkaMania would have died or wrestling popularity would have waned before it did.
If the best couldn't beat him who could? People fondly remember Andre, but I have this weird feeling no one pays money to watch a heel on top.

I did a diary about this before, the way I see it working is using the "controversial 3-count" happens at the end instead of the beginning of the match, where Hulk fails the bodyslam attempt (BUT everyone will be able to argue he had his shoulders up at two and a half). This was how it was done in the past when heels won with controversy for example Superstar Billy Graham won the WWWF title by pinning Bruno despite Superstar's feet hanging on the top rope.
As for Andre who obviously wouldn't be able to wrestle till late in 87, they could come up with a storyline of a "vacation clause" in his contract that allows him to hold unto the WWF title or something while Hulk would still sell on the house shows with his journey to retain the WWF title. Then we get WM4 with the rematch and Hogan regaining the WWF title.

Most of the Title matches were on house show cards. So just omit Andre from all house show matches, just do an interview at a TV taping here and there, and wrestle like one SNME between WrestleMania and Survivor Series.

The fall out could be huge and be felt over years. I can think of 3 wrestlers (not named Hogan) that this would effect mostly...
The #1 would obviously be Macho Man. With Andre winning there is no Tourney at WM4. Therefore Savage doesnt get his title run. In all likelihood Savage goes on to the rumored IC Title feud with Honky Tonk Man. Eventually taking the title from HTM and ending his streak...does Savage stay a face longer or does he still eventually turn heel?
#2 would be The Ultimate Warrior. With Savage getting the IC Title that puts Warrior on the back burner. If Warrior doesnt get that IC Title run whats the likelihood that he's given the title shot at WM6? He doesnt get the shot at 6 then he doesnt win the title and depending on which side Savage is on we never get the WM7 match. Does Warrior hang around the WWF as "the 3rd guy?" Or does he eventually jump ship to WCW where someone very similar to him is having great success?
#3 would be Ted DiBiase. With Savage getting the IC Title then there would be no "consolation price" for Ted DiBiase who was awarded the Million Dollar Title in exchange for not winning the Tourney. If DiBiase doesnt have the M$ Title, where does his career & relationship with Virgil go? Does he get fed up and jump ship as well? Does DiBiase & Virgil becoming a tag team? If so is there ever an Money Inc?

WWF/WWE wouldn't be what it is today (you know what I mean, the huge global entity it is...and the histories for WCW and ECW would both be vastly different) The ripple effect of that one outcome truly was huge in wrestling history thereafter...perhaps even to this day.

As much as I grew to despise Hogan and Hulkamania circa 1987 - onwards, he was still the stirrer in the WWF coffee. Even when not "The Man", he was still THE Man, and the foundation of the WWF. Andre beats him at WM3, he's no THE Man anymore - Andre is. And with his declininh health and limited schedule, he was not capable of being the cornerstone of the WWF anymore at this point. They could have still had things go forward in a roundabout way perhaps - Hogan spends the rest of 1987 chasing Andre, who refuses to give him a Title shot. Finally he's granted one at The Main Event in February 1988. Happens the same way, with Andre getting the tainted win,and Andre suddenly (unexpectedly?) surrendering the title to Ted DiBiase. Later it's revealed Ted made a deal with Andre and Heenan - he would guarantee a second victory over Hogan for andre, making the Giant "The Best Ever" . In return, Andre would be satisified to retire on top and agree to give DiBiase the Title. Once it's revealed what happened, Ted is stripped of the Title, a tournament is declared for WrestleMania IV ,and Andre comes out of retirememnt to try and stop Hogan for ted. Rest goes as it originally did.
But it would still have Hogan with that pall over his head of never being able to beat Andre when it counted.
