I just don't get why they'd have Cena quite literally crap all over the entire legacy of the Undertaker's career of NOTHING was going to happen. Was this a WWE.com exclusive?

Thing is, with it being inside, the light tricks could work early on. And he could possibly call him out towards the beginning of the show and Taker gives him his answer. Cena then has plenty of time to warm up in the back and who's to say they don't go on last? I know. As the late great Gorilla Monsoon would say "HIGHLY UNLIKELY" but this COULD plausibly happen. People would stay for Taker Cena I would think. Remember, We got Yoko/Hogan at the end of the night at Mania 9 (even though that was just an impromptu squash). I'm just going to let it play out and try to enjoy it.

At this point, I'm almost wondering if we're just going to get a small showdown between the two for a 'Wrestlemania moment', instead of an actual Match. I can envision Cena being a fan for the first hour of the show, entering the ring, cutting one last Promo, and out comes Undertaker, has a staredown, and delivers a tombstone etc. It just seems unfathomable that they wouldn't want to promote this Match if it was happening. How they finally get to this match is what's intriguing. They can't go on last, people could turn off or go home after Reigns vs Lesnar, and if it's a match Cena isn't sitting ringside for four hours without warming up. One thing I will say though, is it does lead even more to feel like we're getting the American Badass. Cena alluding to the fact he left his hat in the ring, but his balls at home, and not a single gong, lightning bolt, druid etc. All of the classic signs have been eliminated. I understand a lot of people are looking forward to a possible return of the Biker, but in all honesty, this is the one Match where the Deadman was needed. The image of John Cena face to face with the Deadman at a Wrestlemania. If we aren't getting a Match, and we're just getting a segment for a Wrestlemania moment, then the fans will be disappointed. They would have been better off having John Cena as the Host for Wrestlemania this year, and having the big showdown between the two that way as a huge surprise, since they aren't booking it or promoting it before the Event itself. At least that way, it would have made for a huge, unexpected and memorable moment. The way they have built to it so far has just led fans to get their hopes up for a Match between the two. As I mentioned above, I'm going to WM this year, and Cena/Taker is my final dream WM match of my era, and I think the biggest match that could be booked for a while. I agree with you that it's crazy if they had this match and not actively promoted it, but who knows. You're clever about none of the Deadman gimmicks and perhaps that'll lead to an ABA-style Undertaker, but I hate ABA so much. To me, WM 34 in New Orleans would be the PERFECT opportunity for Undertaker to have his final match and retire in the same place the streak ended. One of the biggest reasons I decided to go to WM this year was because of the chance Undertaker vs. Cena would happen, or at the very least, Undertaker would officially retire. I will be pissed beyond everything if Undertaker returns just to set up a match with Cena for next year's WrestleMania and I'm sure everyone else in attendance will feel the same way. There was some talk a few weeks ago about WWE needing a big money match for next year with Lesnar being gone, and I hope they will have Cena/Taker this year and just come up with something else/bring in another part-timer to fill that need. Don't screw us out of this match here, please.

You know thinking about this already disappoints me. WWE is doing the same crap, either building up these feuds the last few weeks prior to mania or none at all, it's incredibly annoying and anticlimactic. Hopefully we get a match, I have a feeling if we do it'll be some sort of squash with the undertaker winning. Then they'll redo it to finally retire the undertaker next year. I'm just hoping it's not aba taker, it needs to be the deadman because that's what he debuted as. I can't see limp bizkit or the undertaker in his 50's rolling down a ramp fitting this era. The deadman has the age and wear that fits his decaying self imo.

Wouldn't surprise me if they wind up booking the match for next year and officially announce it as Taker's retirement.

I was thinking this too, the thing is I never know what to believe when reading crap online according to the internet Undertaker has had more hip replacements than wrestlemania wins, I read this year hes had 2 ops, its make sense that he chilled for this year to get back on his feet but again I don't really trust anything I read now.

If there isn’t an actual match, this will go down as one of if not the worst storyline of all time. All the hype and excitement, just to have some stupid five minute segment or nothing at all.

Don't screw us out of this match here, please. Yeah, at this point they have more or less done the build and everybody is expecting the Match or at least a Wrestlemania moment to happen. I think it's completely unnecessary to book it in for Wrestlemania 35. The novelty of the Match has already lost a ton of it's value from it not happening years earlier. Of course, a genuine build would be great, but I'm not sure it's something that can stretch a year like John Cena vs The Rock did. We'd already have had the two stand face to face in the Ring at a Wrestlemania. That's what people want to see, the Match is almost irrelevant. If the whole point was to set up a Match for next year, they may as well have not mentioned anything about a potential Match this year, had Cena go as the host, and Undertaker come out as a complete surprise at Wrestlemania to set the Match up for a year later. At least that way, those in attendance get a cool surprise and moment, and won't feel cheated out of an expected Match they thought they were getting this year.

I’m pretty sure he had one several years ago when he was still full time and that’s why he always took his bumps on his other hip

Personally, I want Taker to be done in the ring. He's already given up the Streak (reportedly at Vince's impromptu behest, although Taker likely was just fine with it). He's already given Da new Big Dawg the rub, and left all his accoutrements in the ring. He's gotten two congratulatory sendoffs from the fans after both his WM losses. We didn't get a ton of dream matches already. Why are they so focused on this one? Whether his words are scripted or his own, why are they allowing Cena to trash his entire legacy because Big Match John feels he needs Taker as an opponent? By the way, Cena's saying Taker is disrespecting the Universe by not showing up, but who exactly is voluntarily sitting out this year while being 100% able to compete, denying his fans of seeing him in action?
I'm sure this is building to a match though. May even be next year, bringing back the "Once in a Lifetime" build. Whenever the match may happen though, John Cena DOES NOT need to win. Doesn't need it, doesn't frankly deserve it after his shameful displays over the past few weeks. Calling him out, shaming him, questioning his manhood, throwing his entire career in the mud, and then get his hand raised by the Man himself? Absolutely pathetic booking right there.

I'm all for ABA Taker. I'm not super invested in it,but if it means seeing the ABA one last time AND the fact that Bloman can no longer say he retired him, bring it on.

I said it before and I'll say it again Undertaker should be retired and not wrestle a match again, dudes way past his prime as last good to great match up was against CM Punk at WM 29 which is now five years ago, since then he's become more and more of a shell of himself.Dudes in his early 50's now and being wrestle for 30 years or so its time to hang up the boots.Should have retired at WM XXX when the streak end, which for ever Wrestlemania since 27 has been the soul reason why he still even appears and wrestles every year. When The Streak end that should have been it even with it being in a crapty match against the wrong opponent and losing the streak to the wrong guy in Brock Lesnar.
The appeal of Cena/Taker wore off years ago after the streak ended and seeing how the in ring quality of Taker has declined and now so to Cena in the past year(I believe its not so much Cena not being able to go at the level he once did but not caring much anymore and have to much on his plate with his Hollywood career)and also theirs little to know history between the two, nothing on the line and really no point with both basically being part timers or less.

I just had a thought: what if the reason behind Taker-Cena not happening this year, and perhaps being pushed until WM 35, is to not overshadow and undercut Roman's big moment last year where he seemed to retire the Deadman? This year is Roman's big coronation, after all...
