I wonder if there's any chance a Hart Foundation Anvil exists. Or a possibly ax with clothesline would be another good, though slightly less interesting proto

I guess that wouldn't be hard to reproduce though, surprised I haven't seen it yet actually. I wonder what the story was on that change, and then using the body for Crush the next year.

Are you trying to hunt down the Tugboat 2up yet? I'd be disappointed if you weren't!

I always figured that by the time it came to mass produce them Ax was no longer a part of the team and it was just Crush and Smash. So instead of making a whole new body sculpt they must have just decided to make a Crush head and use the same body mold. Though, I find it odd that they were redoing an Ax body but they kept the same body for Smash. Would be interesting to here if they were ever thinking of releasing all three.

I always thought that maybe ax doing the clothesline was what was originally planned for his series 1 release but they didn't quite have the clothesline mechanism down maybe.

I never thought that it could be the Series 1 Ax. I have yet to see the sketch of Series 1 Ax with the gorilla slam action so maybe it was supposed to be series 1 and for some reason they decided to change it. Would be interesting to know.

I always assumed it was maybe an issue with the prototype of the clothesline mechanism maybe, since no other series 1 had the clothesline action, so they quickly made the gorilla press mould instead. Do the sketches of clothesline ax have any dates listed on them?

The slam mechanism on the Series 1 Ax made wrestling with the figure kind of difficult.

For display purposes, the press slam mechanism looked good for guys like Warrior and Hogan, but it really limited how you could play with them as a kid. It didn't really fit Ax. He wasn't a big power guy so combined with the limited playability his action feature always bothered me.

You could always get a demolition crush and put the axe head on it!

I was planning on doing that soon but wanted some ideas for what to do with the Crush head and Ax body (I could put them together but new Crush would look short and fat).
