I was at work, grown ups work.
Anyways, Roger Clemens is a mercenary. This just proves it. Give the Yankees the credit, they were in desperate need of help and they went overboard to get him, they did what needed to be done. I would have liked to see him end it with the Sox, I really would have, but the Red Sox obviously felt good enough with Lester coming back, because you know Clemens and his agents called the Astros and the Red Sox before he signed with NY to see if they would reach 30$ million.
Like Thug said,no matter how old or "worse" Clemens has got, hes better than what they have, so thats a plus, the price is ridiculous though but its not my money.
It would be funny if the Yankees still are doing awful in like July and the Sox and the Astros are fighting for the playoffs. Ironical would be the word.

Clemens doesn't give a damn about winning a World Series- he just wants his money now. He already has a few rings, and pitched in a W.S. with the 'Stros. It's blatantly obvious that all he cares about is the money. Which isn't a terrible thing but..

I think it's funny how on ESPN already they're talking abut Clemens having "heavy legs" and how he's not the same pitcher that he used to be in 1991. Why is this all of a sudden "breaking news" that Clemens is fat? Lol...the Yankees did what any team in their position would do with the money they have - they bought the best pitcher they could buy. The bottom line is that the Yankees had the greatest need for Clemens, and there was no way in hell they were going to risk being outbid again by Boston or anyone else.
When you have a rotation of Wang, Mussina, Pettitte, Hughes, and Clemens, I like my chances. And there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that if Randy Johnson is still here, this signing doesn't happen.
I really want to get tickets to see Clemens pitch one of his rehab starts in Trenton. I can only imagine how fast those tickets will sell once his schedule is announced...

Its obviously a risk, but its a lot safer bet than going after a Paul Byrd and given up a good prospect for him or trusting Igawa, the Yankees better start winning or else Clemens is gonna regret it...but probably not, as long as he gets that 1 million dollars a week he'll be ok

Not to double post but Thugs comment about Clemens being fat got me remembering something.
Almost 2 years ago in the Summer Clemens son was playing minor league ball for the Astros up here for a while and Clemens was in town for 3 days. I saw him in a grocery store of all places and even shook his hand. The guy is pretty jacked. I'm not saying he's cut or even slender. But the fat thing is mostly pushed out by his muscle, he was muscle all over. I dunno from a distance in person when he's in uniform he looks pudgy, on TV he can look pudgy... but when I saw him shorts, a collared shirt and a visor he looked thin as hell and just fit.

Na no way those guys are fat. Ortiz is fat as hell and Howard is not far behind. They are not on the same fat scale as Clemens.

I was hiding in a cave cause I'm sooo scared of the big bad Yankees! LOL!
Actually, this is a huge huge thing for the Yankees, it really is. Especially since it seems like Pavano is done, they needed Clemens in the worst way. You're now looking at a rotation of Wang, Clemens, Pettite, Mussina, and probably Hughes. There's a lot of age in there, but they're old guys who still have it (most of the time at least). And we know how deadly the offense is. Bullpen is a bit of question mark, but should improve once the rotation comes back together. Any Red Sox fan who says they're not scared of the Yankees now is pretty much lying. But it's still probably gonna be a fight to the finish.
And oh yeah, how bout them BREWERS

If the Sox continue to play good baseball and the Stros decide to start scoring the 457 runners on base with the pitching doing better than expected a scenario of Clemens not in the playoffs and the Stros/Sox in isn't far fetched...

Im gonna laugh when/if the Yankees miss the playoffs and Clemens pulls this crap again next year and maybe he goes to Boston instead. As much as I would've liked him here, what a joke he is with his mercenary crap.
