These always seem to get some discussion going, and they seem to be the ranking system that a lot of people recognize.

Explination of the rankings from MMAWeekly:

The latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, May 30th. This system ranks the top ten MMA fighters from all across the world in each of the five major weight classes, as voted on by MMAWeekly.

We take into consideration a fighter's performance in addition to his win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

Fighters who are under drug-related suspensions are not eligible for top ten consideration. Here are the current MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings, which are up-to-date as of May 30th.

It should've happened a lonnnnnnnng time ago. Jackson going up 8 spots, I could live with, I guess. I think the list would've been perfect if Hendo was 2nd, Jackson is 3rd, and Chuck is 4th.

St. Pierre wrecked Huges, Serra wrecked St Pierre and is now the champion..I think its an easy choice for him to be #1

If he beat the hell out of GSP for 3 rounds and finally knocked him out, he hit him with one real good punch and knocked him out in the first. He definitely doesn't deserve to be number 1. No disrespect to him, though

I'm awaiting to see Frank Trigg in the UFC. Because he is still in these top rankings but every fight I have seen him in HE HAS LOST!

But it is pretty close to what I would call it. Sad to see one loss put Diego Sanchez so far down. He beat Karo in the match of 2006. And beat him in nice fashion. Josh Koscheck beat him by decision. It was some guys opinion. It wasn't a clear victory. So I don't think he should be right below the 'ELITE'

Yes, I know he's only had a few fights at this weightclass, but he's beaten some of the top fighters in the world at other weight classes, too.

I think it does matter, GSP has shown that he have a 3 round war and has fought a much higher caliber list of fighters. Serra hasn't fought the same level of opponents, he won a competition to get the title shot, and caught him with a punch. No matter how good you are, you can get caught with a punch. GSP proved himself on a consistent basic, Serra did once. I thik Serra should be on the list and high on the list, too.. Just not going from somewhere in the top 50 to number 1 because of one punch.
