I think one of the biggest reasons why so many fans are not accepting Reigns for who WWE wants him to be, is because WWE presents Reigns as an underdog under every circumstance (through no fault of his own). Fans see right through the façade, as Reigns is one of the most accomplished superstars in WWE history. It's bad enough that WWE pushes Reigns harder than anyone that ever came before him, but it's even more insulting to pretend the exact opposite. I think this is a big factor in the fan's resistance of Reigns.

What I find annoying about him is that there is so much good there, but the way he is booked and written does not let it shine! I do not care what anyone says, he can flat out go in the ring and has had far more good main event matches than bad ones. It is just his character, a heel Reigns vs a face Bryan would be huge.

He needs to be heel already. He's accomplished too much to be considered an underdog.

Is this the same Reigns who always gets buried by Brock?

The fact that Reigns has broken a few records and may even break a few more is one of the main reasons. I will admit that he isn't the best wrestler in the world, but I personally find him to be entertaining in the ring for some reason lol.
Imo I also believe that Reigns vs Styles and Cena vs Styles were much better matches than Styles vs Owens and Styles vs Nakamura, even according to the Internet fans who are anti Reigns/Cena but pro Owens/Nakamura haha.

I never liked him. Dean was the Shield member I really backed. Some jack off fans go too far and diddle with Roman's personal life, though. It's one thing to boo him,but when you start doing things, like throwing the briefcase at him, that could potentially sideline or end his livelihood, you need to step back and question your life.

This is the same thread that angry teens were making about Cena for years. Unfortunately, kids, the top babyface is often going to be presented as the underdog because that's how stories go. And the top babyface is also going to win a lot, because if they don't, they're not the top babyface. Pretty much every episode of Batman involves Batman winning, but the next episode still presents the next bad guy (or the next scheme from the same bad guy) as a big threat.
Reigns is in a weird position now where he loses way too much in high-profile matches for a top babyface, dropping his stock with casual viewers, but the angry teens ignore all his losses and just complain about him winning all the time. So his losses aren't doing any good for the company, and they're not making the angry teens like him.

I guess it just looks worse now because Reigns doesn't have a decade of dominance backing up his top spot, just the undying adoration of Vince McMahon.

how many more champions are going to use a spear? Reigns sucks plain and simple he is only where he is because of Vince and his cousin the Rock.

He's annoying because he's good looking and doesn't deserve the spot he's in.

I hate that, everytime he enters the arena, he is like it is the first time he is in one of those live events, looking like a lost kid. I liked his SHIELD entrance more.

It is what it is. He's Vince's hand picked guy. It's nothing new. Guys have been given the super push before and it'll happen again with somebody else.
The only thing that I find annoying about Roman Reigns, besides the fact that they are trying to book him as an underdog being held down by the company.....is that they are MASSIVELY restricting his move set. He's a lot better than they are letting him be.
2 years ago when he was in that feud with Rusev for the US Title, he was using a lot of suplexes, Samoan drops, the drive-by, diving over the top rope, he had even incorporated a sort of Razor's Edge.....
Now, he ONLY does superman punches and spears. The rest of the match he gets beat up and make several comebacks ONLY using superman punches and spears.
For somebody like Roman who is so despised by such a large portion of the audience and because he's a guy WWE so DESPERATELY wants to be universally loved..... I don't think they are doing him ANY favors by sending him out there and restricting his move set. If I was WWE, I'd let him go out and there and use as many moves as possible and try and have him EARN the respect of the audience by putting on good matches. But people just groan when all he does is superman punches and spears.
Regardless of how people feel about him, his push, or whatever.....the story would change if all of a sudden he was a workhorse and his matches became something you didn't want to miss.

I don't get WWE's reluctance to turn some guys heel. Cena and Reigns, for instance, could be absolute stars if they were to turn heel. I think they have missed their chance with Cena now as he's moving away from WWE more and more. But Reigns could easily become a monster heel.
If its merch sales the WWE are worried about they can just look at all the nWo shirts that were sold by WCW and that I'm sure they are still selling to this day.

Gotta lose that vest with a picture of himself on it,though. It always makes me think of Milhouse's Radioactive Man costume on The Simpsons.

People seem to forget, this is the same company that used to book Hulk Hogan as an underdog. That's the 6′ 7″, 300 pound Hulk Hogan. So let's not pretend this is something new to WWE.
