My mistake on the payroll thing, must have misread or such. I expect out payroll to increase and hopefully on worthwhole aquisitions since we have the Clemens/Bagwell money. As much as he's been terrible (and I mean terrible), the Cubs #1 priority period needs to be resigning Zambrano. Do it now, while he may be a little cheaper even. He'll be worth more than anyone they picked up over the offseason. Honestly, as far as the offseasn goes, I'd like a bonafied closer, and more bullpen help. I'd say more firepower in the lineup, but when you've got Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee, and Aramis Ramirez in there, you should be ok. There's just something not right going on. Theriot should be their leadoff hitter in my eyes, but Soriano seemingly can't hit out of the 1 spot. So that screws that equation up. I'd try Murton in the 2-hole. Murton's being misused so badly it's not even funny... either send him down, trade him, or let him play. Angel Pagan? Come on. I understand riding a hot hand, but he has no future as a big league starter. Jacque Jones isn't much better at this point either. Then I'd bat Soriano 3, Lee 4, Aramis 5... Barrett 6, Derosa 7, Jones 8, pitcher. I think it'd score more runs than our current lineup atleast. Again, I'm not expert, and for whatever reason Soriano can't hit out of the leadoff spot... so it's all null and void. A 1-2-3 of Zambrano, Lilly & Hill is pretty solid for the NL, if Zambrano gets his head on atleast. Sean Marshall has looked really solid at times over the past year and a half, and I think once he matures a little more and if he can get a fair opportunity he could be a nice #3-4 in time. Maybe even a 2 eventually. He has the stuff. For now if they'll just give up on converting Dempster into a starter, Marshall is fine as the 5th starter. Marquis is a servicable 4 or 5, but not much more. I knew he was pitching in over his head, which made it all the funnier, but I still think it's reasonable for him to have an era around 4.00 or so if he can keep his focus for most of the season. The bullpen is a giant mess. Nothing I can say about them that's positive, except Dempster needs to stay in the closers role as he's been fine, and Marmol is alright. Eyre needs to be demoted to mopup though, and Cotts should be called back up in place of Guzman who should be starting at AAA to atleast amass some trade value. Because he [Guzman] doesn't have a future as a closer on this year's team, and we're not going to groom him to close for next year.. that's for sure. This team is just the biggest waste in the majors next to the Yankees so far... we have some nice pieces, but nothing seems to be clicking. I don't want to blame Lou, because I think he's doing an adequate job, but somethings just wrong. Then again, we are the Cubs. I'll do one on the Astros but it may take awhile to sort out all my curse words...

The Yankees are just ing jinxed...it's seriously unbelievable how many injuries this team has had to deal with. I know they haven't played up to their capabilities, but losing your 20-year-old top prospect for relatively the rest of the season in a no-hitter in the 8th inning was just a bad omen that set all of this off. You seriously whine more than my pregnant dog, honestly, Posada probably jacks his HR while you typed that. Anyways, is Clemens hurt or are the Yanks bumping Pettite tomorrow?

Good job telling time, buddy. I typed that reply about 20 minutes before Posada hit his homerun that Mussina just pissed away.

Clemens is hurt, won't pitch on monday. His groin is shot. Kei Igawa is coming back. Nice, he'll probably be lying in a hammock in Texas tomorrow with an ice pack on his nuts, drinking lemonade, and laughing all the way to the bank.. If Clemens doesn't make a Major League start I don't believe he gets paid. This is a pro-rated contract which the amount of the 28,000,022 Clemens gets will be Dependant on how much of the Major League Season he pitches. So unless I don't understand the contract, if he doesn't pitch then we don't have to pay him.

That hes fat and we know how the people on here love fat dudes People on this board are stupid....they act like because he's fat that he's some kind of amazing pitcher. He's played in 2 games this year in which he's pitched TWO innings. Let's hold off on his HOF speech until he gets a little bit more work, lol

Britton throws in the upper 90s and finished with a great season last year. Might as well give him a shot...
Meanwhile, it looks like this will undoubtedly be a Joe Torre loss. Leaving Proctor in there and not bringing in Myers to face Ortiz, Bruney to face Manny is just ridiculous.

Clown Penis McGriff coud have thrown that pitch to Ortiz.....it's not Proctor or Joe Torre's fault that Bobby Abreu was scared of the wall and couldn't catcht hat ball.....no reason why Ortiz should be on base.

Joe Torre is a ing idiot. Proctor has been worked to death and should NOT have started that inning. This isn't ing rocket science for Christ's sake, you bring in Myers to face Ortiz since that's the only reason he's even on this team, Bruney for the rest of the inning, Farns in the 8th, Mo in the 9th. This dumbass has NO IDEA how to manage a bullpen. It's just ridiculous. I have no problem losing a game when we're outplayed, but I have a gigantic problem losing a game because of idiotic managing.

Yah Scott Proctor obviously was frazzled from last night and turning into a mental midget out there...until his arm falls off.
Doug M is down and I dont care, I hate him. Awful hit though

You didn't lose this game because of an idiotic manager, you lose it because Bobby Abreu doesn't realize why they gave him the baseball glove. He got scared of the wall and dropped a ball that my grandma could have caught. Who cares about the game now, I just hope Doug Mientkiewicz is ok.
