I uploaded roughly 5 clips to my Twitter account of footage from that event of the Blue Blazer promo and his final interview that night with Kevin Kelly.
Also footage of minutes after Owen Hart's accident. It's still just as shocking now as it was then all those years ago.
If you've got Twitter just to a search for either WWF Over the Edge 1999 or #OwenHart and those clips should come up.

I was about 12 years old at the time and watching it live. I didn’t process the news properly when they announced he died. It hit me the next day when I went to school.

I’m based in the UK so must have happened around 2am here and I was falling in and out of sleep. Must have been horrific for JR as well having to keep his composure for the audience at home when this was going on a few feet away from him. Thanks for uploading. RIP Owen

The one thing that really sticks in my craw all these years later was this whole stunt was planned so he can land in the isle and trip as he was walking to the ring. Just so damn unnecessary. Owen even told them he was hesitant about doing it. All this because he turned down a romance angle with Debra which he had every right to.

Owen even told them he was hesitant about doing it. All this because he turned down a romance angle with Debra which he had every right to. Uncle Dave Meltzer mentioned the storyline in the Life and Death of Owen Hart Documentary and I quote "They wanted to do a thing where Owen would have a crush on Debra, and that would lead to Owen and Jarrett splitting up their team and feuding, Owen said no because he didn't want to put his kids and wife through it". So they let him have the Blue Blazer storyline again. Then Bret said that Goldust was going to put his hand down Owen's genitals in the storyline. Yes, WWE was finally gaining momentum. But as for Owen, I don't think he loved the new directions of the Attitude Era.

I didn't really watch the ppv, but was beyond shocked when I heard about it. Martha will never let them induct Owen in the hall of fame as an individual because of it. Maybe if they induct the entire Hart Foundation stable Bret and Anvil will do the speech on behalf of the other 3. Much like Hayes and Garvin did for Gordy and Roberts. People say Owen was afraid he might get fired if he refused to do the stunt? What kind of cruel company would fire a guy for not wanting to risk his life doing an unnecessary stunt? If I were him I would have risked it. He wouldn't have a job, but he'd be alive.

Watching live on PPV. It was one of the few my best friend Corey missed watching with me, and he was in shock the next day.
I remember reading that Vince Russo came up with the idea of him becoming the Blue Blazer again, as an intentional comedic counter to the more risque Attitude stuff going on, talking about drinking his milk and such. Owen wasn't afraid of being fired, he was afraid if he said no they would say he was in breach of contract after he already said no to the Debra angle and I think there was another one he said no to.He told Bret he said yed to the Blazer because he was afraid they would come after him if he kept saying no.
One thing I remember too, that Foley and I think Chyna said, that they couldn't understand why the crowd was so into the event, Chyna in particular being quite upset as people were cursing her on her way to the ring with Triple H and such. No ne of the wrestlers knew at the time that the crowd wasnt informed that Owen had died. While they obviously knew the situation was serious, they were never informed it was fatal. I'm sure there were those who could tell, like the affor-mentioned guy behind JR. But the general crowd I guess thought he survived.

Watching it live with my friends Alan & Jeremy. We were numb, confused, and sick. We didn't know if it was a joke or what was going on. Shook me to my core when we saw it on the news after the show. That made it official. I'll never forget how I felt that night. As many here know, I actually named my son after Owen Hart.

INwas watching live at home. I didn’t go to school the next day and my grandpa actually brought me to KB to look for any of his figures.

I wasn't watching wrestling at the time. Was playing college football and staying pretty busy. However, I was at my house with my girlfriend and we were watching the evening news. They told what happened and I knew we had to watch RAW the next night. Maybe the event that brought me back to watching it pretty regularly.

Went to see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Actually enjoyed the movie (because of Darth Maul), came home and was like WTH?

If my memory serves me well, and it doesn't, this was the first WWF PPV where I had to go to bed early and couldn't watch most of it. I think I actually went to bed before the match was supposed to take place.
I remember getting up that morning and my mom telling me that Owen Hart died in an accident at the event. It's eerie that I had just missed it.
Now that I think of it more, I might have blockde it out in my mind. I remember seeing Jim Ross (don't know if it was the next day or same day) telling usabout the accident. Damn memories. I might have blocked it out of my mind.

I honestly don’t remember, but it had to have been the following night on RAW as I was still recovering from my back surgery. So other than the doctor and PT I was home. So it had to be the following night on RAW.

I was watching live with several friends. We were in shock over the whole thing and couldn't fathom why the WWE/F at the time wouldn't have told the live crowd what had happened.
Also for those of you who haven't read it yet, read Jimmy Korderas' book he was in the ring when Owen landed with Owen yelling at him to get out of the way.

Where was I? - I was watching the PPV live on SKY TV here in the UK Britain, and I thought something was strange when JR said: 'and folks we got big problems out here' - I was thinking well, what problems? camera problem? audio problem?.... you know, whats happening?, and then later on that night when JR said Owen had sadly died from that accident, I was just in utter shock, I wasn't crying, there were no tears, but I was just in complete shock.
Just a tragic, sad, unfortunate accident that nobody saw coming. RIP Owen, not a day passes when a wrestling fan doesn't think of you.
