I own quite a few Basics of certain guys that I wanted but wasn't exactly a big fan of, and generally I'll skip the Elite altogether unless it's someone I really like. That being said, the new Basic arm articulation is somewhat of a turn off, especially when I'm so used to the previous. The women's figure's obviously suffer the most.
In all honesty, there's really not a great deal of figures I'm looking forward to. I'll pick up the Basic Roderick Strong, cuz I doubt we'll see an Elite anytime soon. Adam Cole is a must have, and I'd be on the fence with Fish & O'Reilly, Ronda Rousey, EC3, and Ricochet Basics. But as long as WWE continues to sign the top talent in the world, and make new First Time In The Line Basic's, I'll buy them...

The arms doesn't bother me at all I still buy the guys and girls I always bought in basic form which is not many but I do think its a good idea to stick the FTIL figures in the basics first.

Bray Wyatt was the first I recall that the elite came before the basic. But I just wanna see the basic style have meaning again instead of feeling like a dollar general fig 😊

I like the new basic arm articulation.
I do buy basics like Corey graves and a few women wrestlers. I also get basics of legends I missed like Paul orndorff or Bob Orton. I 100% prefer elites but I am grateful too as basics have filled at least 25 gaps in my collection.
Also they're cheaper and feel a hell of a lot sturdier.if I had kids that's what they would be getting!

I hardly picked up basic figures. Now with the weird elbow swivel & no more feet joints, they’re even worse now.

I like the style for the females and there arms felt to fragile. But whats killing it is that in how many series we have gotten like 2 first in line guys as of late not including elias schedule for later

I honestly don’t mind the new articulation. My only problem is the price will keep going up for something that’s not worth it. Until they change the articulation in Elites, then I’ll have a problem

old basics you could use for elite conversions!
new ones are so bad... you cannot even change parts between them...

Mattel should just stop making basics and just sell the heads. Everything else is useless.

I have found that the lack of ankle articulation makes the couple of Basics I've gotten impossible to stand. Foley and Tozawa have to be bent at the hips to stand. That's unacceptable. And I get that they "moved the articulation" in the arm, but they look like ing garbage. I've also had a lot of stains on them too. Tozawa and Bobby Roode both had blue ink stains on the heads that couldn't be acetoned off.

I think the op has a good point. NXT tag teams have been impacted the most. For a period we got the Vaudvillains, Lucha Dragons, Hype Bros, Revival, and Ascension - none of them were locks to get Elites as teams and some didn't.
It definitely seems like the decision making on basics has changed since Bill stopped working on them. Suddenly tons of ugly t-shirt/ring gear combos and an overall lack of flashbacks, NXT and lesser characters in the basic line.

Basics used to be good for fodder. I usually bought them for pads, arms and (especially) heads. Basics usually have new headscans before elites get them, especially for current wrestlers. I know I want to get the newest Harper just for his head.

I stopped buying Battlepacks since there is only one figure I want out of the pack. It's not worth it anymore
