I recall a time when First Time in Lines came out it was always basics first. Akira Tozawa is the first basic figure I've felt the need to buy in quite some time. BP was Revival and American Alpha. But now its becoming more rare of things I want.
My thing is to just hold us over until Elite versions of guys come out, and Elites are limited to 6 spots, give us more new faces through the basics and BP.

After changing the arm articulation I don’t give basics the time of day anymore. I think I’ve bought 3 since. Like you said I remember how hype I was to find tag teams like the club, american alpha and the revival all in battlepack form. Now I’ll just have to wait for the elites.

I'm just thinking IF a basic Aleister Black came out in June and his Elite wasn't until October, I would buy the basic first to hold me over til October

Sadly i see basics and battle packs as just ways to re release or repaints anymore.

The arms are fine. I get the same poses with them. The loss of ankle hinges is more annoying to me. Which is odd seeing it makes them stand more firmly. Yet, that said not having the ankle hinge bothers me. lol

I don’t mind basics and BPs that much because I don’t often pose my figures. Play with them, yes. Pose them, not really.

Yay!! Another thread disguised to bash the basic arm articulation. This is not meant to be a bash at all. All my question was with getting behind on so many fresh faces. Arm issues or not I think Mattel should try utilizing the Basic and BP line better to get us those new people. I'd love having 205 or NXT guys in basic form that I don't have yet. Then when an elite is made i'll simply upgrade at that time. So nothing here about arms....

Rereading it I see your intent but that sentence pointing out that the arm articulation sucks is what everyone is gonna gravitate too and hijack this thread to bash the basics. Without that sentence it does seem more like a straight forward request to see more FTITL basics.

I wish we had Sanity, the Bollywood guys, Miztourage, and Bob Backlund(can't do D. Young anymore) as basics already.

Yeah, Elites are better, but there would be alot of wrestlers and attires I would be missing out on if I didn’t buy Basics.
Like poor Titus O’Neil.

I usually always wait for the elite unless its a female because the articulation isn’t that big of a difference

I usually always wait for the elite unless its a female because the articulation isn’t that big of a difference The women were the biggest hit. Yes the arms were changed (which I dont mind that much) but they removed the torso, thigh & ankle articulation... even Jakks women figures had more articulation then Mattel.

I get really disappointed when I see a female superstar in the Basic line since they changed the articulation. If they have an updated headscan, I sometimes will buy them but waiting for an Elite might never happen with some characters (male or female).

The staunch defense of the terrible articulation Basics have now takes me back to the good ol’ days of Jakks Derangement Syndrome on these boards when Mattel was permanently changing the wrestling figure game with the amazing, innovative stuff every other month while Jakks were hobbling to the market with half-finished TNA figures in 2+ year out of date attires every 6-8 months yet the same pocket of collectors were vehemently defending it all.
Moving natural points of articulation to a completely unnatural spot while also removing 2 others completely without any type of replacement is not a good sign. When you start losing accessories/articulation/detail on a product thats always had those amenities its not a good thing and never will be no matter how much anyone tries to dress it up.

I usually only buy basics now when they are first in the line. Otherwise I prefer elite at this point in my evolution as a collector.
