Is there any reason Vince didn't want to bring lex luger at the time. I mean after his time warner AOL contract had expire.

I guess at the time there were still hard feelings because of how Luger left 6 years earlier?

I do find it surprising after almost 23 years, they never brought him back for anything considering they brought back Hogan,Warrior,Bret etc.

I guess before they buried the hatchet his health deteriorated.

He'd some sort of consultant with their wellness policy. Its weird though that he hasnt been on TV or anything. I wonder if Luger himself has requested that as physically he's a shell of his former self and has been in and out of wheel chairs. It might not be a sight he wants some to see.

Just goes to show how much I keep up with wrestling over these last 10 years lol.
I was never his biggest fan but he does deserve a HOF nod. Very surprised he isn't in there yet.

I remember seeing Luger at a WWA event in 2002 and he was in great shape so it's a pity that WWE never rehired him.

I think it more comes down to they just wouldn't have a good place for him. If WWF could make money off of him in 2001, sure they'd bring him back no matter what he had done in 1995. 1993-1995 was his time in WWF, they put everything behind him to try and make it happen and fans just didn't buy into it. I was a big Lex fan but he was no Hogan and no Bret Hart. If he couldn't make it in 1993-1995 with so much going for him from the company, he really wouldn't have a place in 2001 WWF. It would've wound up being a Mr. Perfect like situation where he only lasted a few months.

Vince didn't want Jarrett, Luger and 3 other relatively big names that were available in May 2001 due to his feelings on them. I think Shane Douglas was another....He deffo didn't want Douglas when Benoit etc jumped...Douglas wanted out too then.

Was Luger one of the ones, that was still getting paid by AOL Time Warner, after the purchase of WCW? If he was on that list, he probably decided to take the free money. Now those guys had those deal run out, what, last months of 2001? At that point after his WCW run, he didn't have the singles appeal of guys like the nWo or Steiner who got brought back after the Invasion. And during that time too, I don't think he was really in a good place. Then at the beginning of 2003 he had the problem between a domestic dispute call between him and Elizabeth, and a DUI arrest, along with the driving with a suspended license. Then in May Elizabeth's death happens, which also lead to his arrest for illegal drug possession. Then in 2005 he was arrested on a parole violation, for attempting to leave the country without permission. Then in 07 he had the temporary paralysis. By the time Vince bought WCW, even if there was no hard feelings over how he left the company in 95, which I'm sure there was, I think Luger was seen as someone who was no where near worth any baggage he would possibly bring with him.

I don’t see Luger having any sort of impact in the whole invasion angle.
DDP was a bigger name at that time IMO and we all know how that turned out...

Man,I was off the wall rooting for him to beat Yokozuna in '93. I could see him being jobbed to HHH the same way that LOD were wasted by RVD and Kane if he'd come in after the purchase.

Also, this thread prompted me to some research, and....Summerslam '93 was on a Monday?

Luger was notoriously a difficult guy, so it doesn’t surprise me that wwe would be against hiring him. he also may have wanted to stick with his buddy sting, who was into whatever projects Jeff Jarrett had back then.

USA Network had two Monday's that they would air tennis or a dog show, something like that I believe.
So in 1993 and 1994, they held SummerSlam on a Monday. In 1995 - 1998 it was on a Sunday, but then we wouldn't get Raw shows on Monday, we got them either on Friday night, or Saturday night of that week, or just not get any at all.
I think in 1999 they stopped doing that, so Raw was never rescheduled for another night.

You know back in the day I'd get pissed when Raw was rescheduled due to the dog show because WWE was hot back then. Now I'd rather watch a dog show instead of Raw😀

I think in 1999 they stopped doing that, so Raw was never rescheduled for another night. Back when they would do "Thursday RAW Thursday" Im pretty sure part of the contract talks to bring RAW back to USA Network was them saying they werent going to be booted for dog shows anymore. Hence why the dog shows are on like CNBC now.

Also, this thread prompted me to some research, and....Summerslam '93 was on a Monday? It was indeed!!! The first Summerslam that didn't occur on Monday was Summerslam 92 from England.. which took place on 29/08.....which was a Saturday. But it didn't air in the U.S. until Monday the 31st.....
