It was an intense watch. I enjoyed the plot and thought it was badass to see Jamie Lee Curtis waiting for Michael.
I don’t really know how to take the washing of all the movies but the original. I feel like they definitely got the plot more personal that way. They also knnow that most people have seen all the others anyway and I think that helped too. Parallel universe Michael was still the badass psycho but was also kinda too Jasony

In my opinion, Halloween 4,5,6, and Resurrection were horrible movies. H20 was decent. Not even going to knowledge Rom Zombie's horrific movies where Michael looked like a cross between Abyss and Balls Mahoney (RIP) in the second movie.
I think Halloween 2018 was much more of a pure and well connected movie since it washed away all other movies except the 1978 original. The ONLY ISSUE I have with them doing this, is it makes Michael seem like less of a prolific killer.
When in the trailer they are like "Michael Myers killed 5 people....", I was kinda like "hmmm, 5 people"....there was a shooting at a bank yesterday where 5 people got killed. He's not being talked about as "the evil", one of the most notorious killers of our generation, and in 2 days nobody will remember this.
When we start Halloween 2018, the only kills Michael has are:
Judith Myers Random Truck Driver guy. Annie Bob Lynda + 2 dogs
I thought the Original Halloween II did a lot more to establish Michael as a psychopathic serial killer because on that same night he was able to get 10 more kills. 14 kills in one day, 15 total, is a serious amount.
Maybe 40 years having passed with no developments with Michael Myers in the institution may have been a bit too much time to still see him as "the evil". When they originally washed away 4,5 and 6 with H20, 20 years didn't seem as much for some reason.

Damn Lorenzo...you got me thinking now. Really, they shouldn't have disregarded part 2 since it takes place literally minutes after the first one. Because he went hard at the hospital. I'm guessing they'd have to retcon the holy hell out of the ending since he was blown up.

Damn Lorenzo...you got me thinking now. Really, they shouldn't have disregarded part 2 since it takes place literally minutes after the first one. Because he went hard at the hospital. I'm guessing they'd have to retcon the holy hell out of the ending since he was blown up. I would have left in the original Halloween 2 just because A) it adds to Michael's kill count and reputation, and B) it adds to the trauma and horror that he puts Laurie Strode through. If we add up the total amount of time Laurie and Michael are together in Halloween 1 where she knows what's happening, it's a pretty short amount of time. Not saying that being chased by a killer for ANY amount of time is not traumatic, but Halloween 2018 is like promoting the showdown of 2 old rivals, and in Halloween 1, they have a short period of interaction. Now, like you said, I GET why they erased Halloween 2. They didn't know how to deal with Michael being burned at the end. So the easy solution is to erase it. But, if you really look at it NOW, it only bought them ONE movie where they didn't have to deal with it. Any future movies that follow this timeline now have to deal with it. Halloween 2018 kinda ended by putting them right into the boat they didn't want to be in where he's burned, there's no logical explanation for how he survived it, and let's not forget his left hand is ed. lol So as much progress as Halloween 2018 made, if they make another Halloween...the NEW Halloween 3 is pretty much going to have to start the same way the dreaded Halloween 4 did...Michael's been burned, survived somehow, probably in a coma for whatever period of time, and the assclown cops/doctors are going to decide that October 30 is the perfect day to transfer him someplace, lol.

^i actually don’t mind Halloween 4. From the forums I’ve visited most fans seem to think it’s a solid entry as well (I think it did a better job of trying to capture the originals atmosphere than the 2018 movie). It has issues but if you’re gonna bring back Michael after the ending to H2 then I don’t think there’s really any better explanations.
H2018 was promoted as bringing Michael back to his more realistic roots. The ending, however, ruined that. I agree that they’re back to where they were before as he’s back to his “supernatural” state that the later sequels created.
