Hey everyone,
Im curious, the prices for hasbros has skyrocketed lately ive noticed, which im assuming is because of the release of the retros. We no longer have a price guide as we did back in the day with lees toy review and we basically go by what they sell for on ebay now. So my question is, with the retros available and being a big hit, do you think a new price guide will be coming out or should it even come out? Im not looking to sell my collection (I could never part with my baby lol see my other thread for pictures of it) but for conversation, what do you guys think? Will a price guide help stop the ridiculously high asking prices on ebay? Im really interested in all of your thoughts on this. Should there be a price guide? And if so, what do you think a complete MOC and loose set would reasonably top out at? Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Brian

Appreciate the enthusiasm but was never a big fan of price guides to begin with (going back to my Hasbro/Starting Lineup days). All you need to know is up on eBay with sold auctions, it's all supply and demand. Can't see a price guide changing prices one way or the other.

Just look up sold items on ebay and calculate the estimate... Prices rise and fall.

Useless then, useless now. Only difference is pretty much everybody realizes it now. Easiest place to find something? Ebay. And with that comes the prices found therein.

The price they sell for on ebay is your price guide. EBay has millions of members so that guide reaches far more people than a written one on a wrestling figure forum It's also ridiculous to think that a guide could ever change the price things sell for, something sells for as much as another is willing to pay. Particularly with auctions, there is no ceilig to an auction except the maximum bid. Sorry if I sound harsh but it's a ridiculous idea

I have to agree with the majority - with the rate Hasbro prices are going-up over the past year then it’s much too crazy a market for a price guide to stay relevant for any time at all.

Thanks for the input guys! Like I said mainly just curious/conversation starter. I was wondering if that would deter people from listing crazy asking prices, like a berzerker for over $200 lol Anyways, I value the input from you all thank you

They mean Nothing!! if 2 bidders are fighting for one figure, then it could go for a stupid price.
Prices are completely up and down at all times.

Like I said, sold prices are your price guide, it doesn't stop some people listing a £1 Jake the Snake for £10

Make 1 for your own personal use then compare it in 10 years.

I always liked price guides, and it helps new people know what might be too high to pay, so maybe they don't get burned by people that seek out marks. If you had a price guide, with maybe a count of hiw many pieces of the piece exisr, maybe it could help regulate the insanity that the bay and vultures have made.

I always use to buy price guides on whatever I collected but like most have said they are useless now EBay sold items tells you everything you need to know and it doesn't cost you a penny to look at it.

Sellers don't set the prices, buyers do I know buyers bid, I guess I was more talking scalpers with insane openers, or to help people know when a bid has gone too high, and to stop chasing something that will come along again. Granted this is not directed towards something like a proto, but rather regular line pieces.

I was just talking about selling way over a price point, of which a price guide could help clarify... scalpers might have been the wrong word. I will leave the thread alone. VPV

I apologize, wasn't trying to offend. I was just clarifying my statement. I was just talking about selling way over a price point, of which a price guide could help clarify... scalpers might have been the wrong word. I will leave the thread alone. VPV So you want people to sell their stuff for less than the going rate? Can you not see how ridiculous it is? First of; there's no such thing as a going rate. Let's take U.S. card Hasbro WWF Ultimate Warrior 3 as an example. He sells for $150 in one auction, for $117 in another and for $382 in another one. What's your going rate? $382, $117 or $150? Is your going rate the average: $216.33? Now let's say someone has a Hasbro WWF Ultimate Warrior 3 U.S. card, sees the one that sold for $382 and thinks, heck I sell mine with a BIN of $450! Some desperate buyer even pays the $450. Is the going rate $450 now? What if a guy who knows nothing about Hasbro WWF figures puts on a Hasbro WWF Ultimate Warrior 3 U.S. card with a very vague title and sells it eventually for $65? Is that the going rate now? What if a guy puts one up for $1,199 but eventually accepts an offer we don't see, say $499? These things happen: sellers who think they own solid gold and try to sell for $1000+ (and eventually settle for a lower unknown offer) and sellers who don't know what they have and sell way below the average price. In the end a Hasbro WWF is a mass produced item with constantly fluctuating value. That's why price guides are a waste and going rates don't exist.

If a figure is consistently selling for between 20-30 for a few months that's the going rate. If it goes up to 50-60 for a while that's the going rate. Can't understand why you'd make a comment that's so obviously wrong Where you price it between those prices depends how quickly.you want to sell it and the condition
