I'd like to see him as Nak's first challenger when he finally becomes WWE Champion.

Hell no!
He got rid of Big Cass. Hopefully he can take out some more Smackdown wastes of space before he moves to Raw and cleans up that roster.

Compared to Shawn Michaels's 2002 return it feels weird. Shawn's return was written perfectly and everything fell into place pretty well.
Everything about Daniel Bryan's feels rushed. Ever since he returned he's been put in random matches week after week with no story behind them. It's like unlocking him in a video game and going on a match spree.

From a moneymaking standpoint, it makes sense.
Everyone wanted him to feud with Nakamura or Styles or Miz right away. And that would be foolish. Those matches should be saved for the "Big Four", not B-shows like Extreme Rules or Payback or Backlash. Test the waters before you jump off the diving board.

Ever since he returned he's been put in random matches week after week with no story behind them. It's like unlocking him in a video game and going on a match spree. It doesn't have the same "magic" as Michaels return in 2002, but I felt like for Wrestlemania the story was at least there. They had been teasing the tension between Bryan and Shane with Owens and Zayn for awhile, so the match at Mania at least made sense. But I can agree every match after Mania has either had no story, or just a random feud with Big Cass. Not the same feelings as Michaels coming back to take on HHH.

It's been like 2 seconds. Give it time to boil. This. People want to complain about how there's no real long term feuds anymore but are willing to write wrestlers off in one fashion or another after just a few weeks. While his feud with Cass isn't what I would prefer to see, let's not act like he hasn't had some really enjoyable matches on Smackdown Live since his return.

Yeah I feel like his return has been an afterthought, kind of like pushed to the side of everything else. They gave him Cass just to establish a new heel, and THAT flopped. The roster is so large now and everyone's kind of being protected that it's really hard to have him stand out. I think WWE is having his prior success be his foundation while they continue to develop newer roster members.

He’s gonna be in world title matches this year unless he re-signs then they will merrily misplace him on the card til the end.

I wouldn't call it a flop. I think they are waiting for Miz/Bryan till SummerSlam. And while Cass was not ideal, it's kept Bryan and Miz away from each other. I expect Bryan to be in the title picture by WM. There's also been rumors that WWE wants to push Bryan more. But they are waiting till he officially signs a new contract. Most are speculating that he will, so it's just a waiting game at the moment. Here's hoping.

If they’re trying to give him stuff to do without putting him in the title picture in case he leaves or gets injured again, I’d like to see what he could do with Cien Almas. Or even something where he challenges 205 Live guys to step up and face him on SmackDown - I know he’s wanted to wrestle Itami, and he could have a fantastic match with Gulak.

He still gets the whole arena to chant "YES!" with him. He still puts on amazing matches, the only reason he isn't being booked in a championship story is because its not known if he will resign in September. It is far from a flop.

Nope he's not long come back and his return is out of the blue. They put him in a feud with cass just to get him back on screen asap just to appease the fans, people still manage to crap all over it. If they cleared him then kept him off screen for a month or so until creative had something juicy for him people woild complain that he's not being used.

I think initially even though they were Cass losing they were trying to give Cass the rub by working with DBry before he ed up. Do I think it's a flop? No. First match was against KO and Sami when they were pretty hot. They need to figure out the path for him back to the top is all.

The booking has been underwhelming. Thats for sure. If you told me a year ago that Bryan would have a comeback and his first feud would be with Big ing Cass, I'd have cringed on the spot. If you told me AFTER he feuded with that big lump, he would be paired with Kane AGAIN, I'd have cringed even harder. Seriously, Bryan just can't escape Kane. I remember the hype of him winning at WM30 and WWE killed it all by having him wrestle Kane night after night, week after week, month after month. And nobody and I mean nobody wanted to see it. Team Hell No having a short stint wouldn't be the end of the world I suppose. But I want him to be in top storylines. I want him to face Styles, Nakamura, Joe, LESNAR. I don't want him facing the goddamn Usos. Thats a waste.

I think a mid card feud is fine for starts. But, it's a total waste. I just want Miz/Byran WrestleMania 35.
