Had Andre the Giant not been able to compete due to his back, do you think they would have made Hulk Hogan vs Paul Orndoff the main event after the latter hit the ground first in the cage match 3 months earlier? I don't know if they would have put it in the silver dome, but I think it would have drawn a huge buyrate. I mean after 3 years as champion he loses on a technicality like that, I think a lot of people would have wanted to see him win back his title. What do you guys think?

If Andre couldn't go then yeah Orndorff would've been a suitable replacement since it made sense considering the whole feud they had since the Summer of 86.
The build would've been nowhere near Hogan/Andre but the match itself would've been better as Orndorff was great in the ring.

Would you have had Mr Wonderful win the title on SNME after hitting the ground first? That would probably be more interesting than just having Hogan go in as champ.

Orndorff as the heel champ with Hogan chasing him would've been a nice alternate. The end result would be predictable but still Orndorff getting a little run on top? Hell yeah!!

Paul Orndorff was such a big heel and had a huge feud with Hulk they didn't have enough chairs for 60,000+ at the CNE Exhibition for the Big Event. So I can see the Silverdome packed. As much as it would've been a great story for Mr. Wonderful being the champ and Hulk having to get the title back, Wonderful was badly hurt. His arm (I forget which one) was practically paralyzed, so he couldn't even move it properly in matches. Earlier that year in 87 his neck was giving him so many problems that he couldn't even be at WM3. Without Andre or Wonderful, the next viable option was the Macho Man since he was originally supposed to be Hulk's WM2 opponent, but they went with Bundy instead. They would've had to get the IC title off of Randy earlier, maybe putting Steamboat much earlier, and build a main event from there. The last option I can think of is King Harley Race (former NWA World Champion), but it'd have to be a damn good story for it to work especially since he was in his 40s by this point, so past his prime. But it wouldn't have packed the Silverdome, I doubt that.

warriorlynx I am pretty sure it was his right arm that was the issue of losing mass because of the neck injury. I was always a fan of his and wished he would become the WWF champion. (Same with Piper)

Just talking about changing up Hulk/Andre at WMIII could rip a hole in the space time continuum.
