Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell (20-4 MMA, 14-3 UFC) and Keith Jardine (12-3-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) are expected to headline Anaheim’s UFC 76 event in September. A source close to one of the fighters told UFCjunkie.com (www.ufcjunkie.com) of a tentative agreement that was reached earlier today.Jardine will take the spot vacated by PRIDE standout Wanderlei Silva. Earlier this week, UFC president Dana White said that Silva turned down the UFC 76 fight with Liddell despite having a verbal agreement in place. UFCjunkie.com first broke the news of that agreement, but for reasons still unknown, Silva apparently opted not to take the fight. Instead, Liddell will face Jardine, a cast member from The Ultimate Fighter 2 who worked his way into title contention before suffering a shocking, 48-second upset to UFC newcomer Houston Alexander back in May. Prior to that UFC 71 loss, Jardine had posted a 4-1 record in the UFC — with his only loss coming via a controversial unanimous decision to Stephan Bonnar at UFC Fight Night 4.
* I'm going with Liddell *

What a terrible match. If anything, Forrest should be fighting Chuck before Jardine. In a perfect world they'd switch the card to Machida vs. Griffin and Shogun vs. Liddell but that'll never happen. I hope after Wandy's response, Chuck will turn down the fight with Jardine and fight Wandy in November. The best part of that is they'd be fighting in NJ. $$$

If anything, Forrest should be fighting Chuck before Jardine. Jardine destroyed Griffin... Yeah, and Jardine just got destroyed but Houston Alexander, a bonafide no-name. Griffin is a more marketable fighter and is coming off a win.

Before getting knocked out though, Jardine was virtually a top contender in the light heavyweight division. Had he won the bout in which he was ktfo, if he won say another one after that, some would even consider him the number one contender in that division.
Both Liddell and Jardine need a victory as both are coming off big knockout losses. Which's exactly why this is an interesting fight. Both dudes need a victory and need to prove themselves worthy of a/another shot at the title, so they'll likely come out very strong. Makes this an interesting match up.
And ACE, how was Jardine throwing a solid punch which connected, and him following up with ground 'n pound exactly 'lucky'? I don't see luck, really.

I'm not sure if I agree with everyone discarding who Jardine's past opponent was.
Was he a no-name? Yes.
But did you see the built on that guy? When I saw him I knew he would win..he just looked like a pure brawler/street fighter.
But anyways this fight really interests me. It will be interesting to see how Liddell/Jardine fights after coming off a HUGE loss.
And both fighters have very unorthodox ways of holding their hands and punching..I think I will have to go with Liddell.

Forrest Griffin is not ready to fight Chuck Liddell. I mean, really; since coming to UFC, who has he beat? He's beat Stephan Bonnar twice (whoopty doo), he beat a washed up Elvis Sinosic, Bill Mahood, and Hector Ramirez.
Until Griffin beats someone good, he doesn't deserve to be fighting Liddell. They've given him two fights against top competitors (Ortiz & Jardine) and he lost both times.
I like Forrest and everything, but he needs to beat someone with some credibility.

Yeah I'm with you on that Congrats you won the '' ass of the day '' award Honestly, not a good attempt at all. You claimed Jardine was "lucky" to beat Forrest when if you actually saw the fight (which it's obvious you didn't) he literally dominated the fight and ended it in convincing fashion. Which leads me straight back to my original point. You know nothing about MMA at all. Your posts consist of "FRANKLIN RULEZ," ..."TITO IS THE BESTEST" and "I SURE HOPE LIDELL WINS VS JARDINE!!!!!!!!" It's just senseless drivel.

Next time you want to make fun of someone for "not being able to read" at least use proper grammar. So someone DOMINATES an entire fight and ends it in convincing fashion, and your opinion is he was lucky? So if a car is blue, is it your OPINION that it really is red? Again, you know nothing about MMA at all. Jardine DOMINATED Griffin. It's as simple as that. There was no luck involved.
