Greg Valentine's not even the best Ric Flair knockoff, I don't understand why people here want a figure of him to be produced so badly. Maybe about 200 people will get him, and then what? He'll warm store shelves for the next two years until they finally just put them in a bargain bin or stuff them in the back with the rest of the figures that don't sell. The only person I've seen so far in this thread that I'd want a figure of is Haku, and that's only because if I pass on it the figure might come to life and gauge my eyes out. I’d buy multiples just to use the torso and trunks for late career Piper and Flair.

I can understand if you're a custom maker and wanting to make customs using the body, but no one in Mattel's true target audience for WWE figures is going to want multiples of Greg Valentine if they even want one at all. Yet, I say this and when I was like 9 or 10, I got my mother to buy me Jakks Classic Bruno when I had no idea who he was simply because I wanted to have as many figures as I could, so maybe I'll end up eating these words later.

Does anybody calling Valentine a Flair knockoff realise that he worked a completely different style?
The Hammer was both an intercontinental and United States champion.
Insert your favorite Indy darling and it's safe to say Valentine drew more money as a performer. Look at the Piper feud, Wahoo feud, Tito feud, and the title matches with Backlund.... all drew sellouts.
The revisionist history in here is ridiculous, I see a lot of shade thrown at guys who actually put butts in the seat and were high on the cards.

IDK. You never know what’s gonna sell until you put it out there. Plus it depends on how many you pack per case. I thought for sure Wild Samoans and George Steele would warm hard but I’ve barely seen Steele and Samoans sold out quickly the first couple shipments and didn’t linger long after more shipments and the rest went fast once clearanced. Seems like Mattel distribution has a better understanding how to handle the lesser known or desired figures.

id take anything a former pro wrestler says about figures/legends deals with a grain of salt
time and time again we've seen guys say they are signed, and never seen anything after that hell i worked a convention table with JJ Dillon a few weeks back and got talking with him about stuff, showed him a picture of his upcoming BAF and he had no idea it even existed

Well said, some people are just uneducated as it comes to professional wrestling. Greg Valentine drew money when the wrestler had to be the guy that made the draw.

And how can you call anyone a Flair knockoff when he lifted his entire gimmick from Buddy Rogers? So wouldn’t Valentine technically be a Buddy knockoff?

Is Valentine a Flair knockoff because he had blonde hair??? I’m sorry but I don’t get it??

Im interested to see if 2018 is the year of the Mattel Greg Valentine
Why are people comparing valentine to other wrestlers anyways?
Was he the g.o.a.t? Definetly Not. Was he great on the mic? Nope. Was he someone people tuned into wwf television to watch? Probably not ... but damn it , he was there... and thats what counts in my opinion
Still, he was always on t.v when i was a kid so i want Valentine for my roster a lot

He was present nearly throughout the entire golden era. He’s your Rafael Palmeiro of WWF. A guy that didn’t have a lot of flash and was never a main attraction but had a lengthy career accumulating stats.

Valentine was great back in NWA and as IC champ. Were most here even old enough to watch or go see him back then? Throw us old guys a bone!

The Valentine/Tito feud was one of the best during the Rock 'N' Wrestling explosion. It drew money, and people wanted to see it. Valentine seems to be underrated around here.

You're right (mainly cause he's not a Flair knockoff) but once we get Valentine in our collection we'll be happy to jump on the Buddy Landel bandwagon to get him made into figure form. Enjoy trying to get your basic style Noam Dar to do some flippity floppity hurimoonsault splash with those statuesque basic limbs.
