Give Hasbro the line... an alternate head, few hands, a weapon, and a BAF piece that isn't always suited characters. Plus all the added articulation.
Only real downside is prolly lack of cloth goods.

Generic body types...clicking joints.....weak plastic Coming from a current Marvel Legends collector...? I collect several line, including imports. I LOVE Elites, been collect since 2012, elites are my favorite and love WWE! I'm tired of the generic body types, lackluster paint apps, cloth that's not executed well (looking at you E60 Giant), cloth accessories given mostly (not always, but mostly) to jobber class character (or figures Mattel think wouldn't sell well without), using gimmick rings to sell elite figures, using gimmick branding tricks to sell elites at higher prices (Defining moments or Entrance Greats), joints that are super loose, joints that are super tight, and plenty of other examples of things going south. Again, I still collect elites, and don't mine Mattel keeping the line. I have plenty of Hasbro Marvel Legends and your right, they reused molds, but they cast much more that Mattel can. Clicking joint, I assume, you are talking about ab joints, that is a personal preference. However, I would still love to get the range of movement from a Marvel Legend in my WWE figures. To be honest, I've never encountered weak plastic from the Legend line unless you are talking accessories, but again Mattel's track record isn't so good as well... Sting's baseball bat comes to mind .I think a fresh shake up is a good thing. I don't know if the trend in the Basics figures are any indication, but losing articulation could be a sign of a larger problem and Mattel may not be able to renew the contact with WWE past 2021. I think Hasbro is the only toy company that can do the price point justice.

I don't think Hasbro is going after WWE too hard. They already have the Star Wars, Marvel, Transformers, Littlest Pet Shop and NERF to concentrate on. That's been my thinking as well. Hasbro also recently acquired the license for Power Rangers, and could see a resurgence of GI Joe with a couple upcoming movies planned. WWE and the floundering DC line are really the only major licensed properties Mattel has on the boys side. Losing WWE would be a much bigger loss for Mattel than a gain for Hasbro. Mattel and WWE also have a fairly lengthy partnership and history working together, cross promoting, etc that can be a factor in decisions like this. Mattel needs WWE, Hasbro doesnt. Buf if the license is up for grabs, they are the only 2 companies the WWE will make a deal with because they are the Big 2 when it comes to action figures.

So instead of charging more money they work with what they got and still try to provide the same product but different. Also the majority on here crap all over basics yet when the articulation changed everyone lose their mind. So here we are. The economics are simple to see. You also said you wouldn’t mind a shake up yet the basic articulation is some huge indication of a problem...? If Hasbro gave the figures that ridiculous double hinged arm I’ll just stop collecting. However this is a moot point because Mattel still has the license.

However this is a moot point because Mattel still has the license. I'm pretty sure I'm talking to a kid, fanboy, or troll. Maybe all 3 or just 2 out of 3. Either way, I think you're just going to argue that Mattel is the best option for WWE figures. That's fine, I'll still collect, even if they get a contract extension. I lived through the Jakks era of WWE toys so I know that Mattel is working backwards with Basics articulation. While you want to use the argument that oil prices have increased, Jakks went from using less plastic and less articulation to using more plastic and adding more articulation staying in the $10-$13 price range. Not only that, oil is a flux good, it doesn't always increase in price. The value of oil is dependent on many factors. Even as a limited resource, plenty of countries use oil to leverage their economy. The Basics line is likely, their #2 most selling WWE assortment. As a company, you are making a bold statement this late in the production. Good change or bad change? Maybe not enough time has gone by to tell, but it is definitely a step backwards. Without collector support, I cannot believe the line will hold very well... I mean, our WWE Mattel Nerd God, Bill, is now focusing all his efforts on Elites, exclusively...

You assume you’re talking to a child because I made points that you could barely touch on? What’s your reading level kid? Also the only part of articulation the basics lost was the ankle joint. I’ll tale that over some flimsy mass produced body type any day of the week. I “lived through” (drama queen) Hasbro, Jakks and now Mattel. Mattel nailed it and if you don’t like it then don’t buy em! But don’t come on here typing like a 3rd grader and making ignorant posts about something you barely understand and just googled 5 minutes ago. Also just because you don’t buy something doesn’t mean the whole world doesn’t. There’s plenty of collector support just not from you and that’s mostly like because you can’t afford it. I’m sure you will keep quoting me and using Wikipedia but I don’t have time for people like you who aren’t on my level. Have a nice night kid.
