Watching it now on +1, the first match was terrible, especially the suicide dive between the ropes to the outside, falling short so his opponent could not catch him. Smith V Osprey was a case of big move then a pin too many times, impressive moves but just showing off essentially.

As much as WWE and other types of big time wrestling can be criticised hugely, and I know it's the first show of ten so things could get better, the whole thing juts seems very weak, or maybe that is the intention of ITV. If so, they are idiots and need a lesson in how to film and present a wrestling series.

Still better than TNA.

TNA has better wrestling than this in my views! 

The matches are essentially highlight reels.  Any rest moves were edited out for TV.  No way were they working at that pace.

Don't forget they have to fit 4-5 matches into less than 45 mins of screen time.

In an hour it's always going to be limited what they can show.  On WWE superstars back in the day, it was 3-4 matches.  2-3 of them would be squashes, and then a few interviews to hype up upcoming events. 

If it was me, I'd have made the first episode all about launching three feuds. A men's singles feud, a tag feud and a women's feud.

Episode 1 would have looked like this:

Seg 1:

Stu Bennett comes out and criticises Grado, and creates a title match for the main event between Grado and the winner of the proceeding five-man over-the-top-rope battle royal featuring all the same guys.

Seg 2:

Rampage is a nasty bastard who uses dirty tactics to eliminate everyone and gets the one-on-one match with Grado for the main event.

Seg 3:

Backstage interview with Viper about the fact that next week she will be in a triple threat to crown the first ever women's champion. She's honoured to have been included, and wants to do the legacy of WOS and British Wrestling proud. She's interrupted by Kay Lee Ray who says Viper is not only going to fail to win the title, but she's going to fail to honour British wrestling because she's an embarrassment, and who would ever take such a fatso seriously as an athlete. It's ridiculous that Kay Lee Ray even needs to compete for the title, and feels she should be awarded it now. She walks off and Viper, visibly ruffled, says she's content to simply be herself and she's dealt with bullies all her life, but she's going to fight with all she has next week and shut Kay Lee's mouth.

Seg 4:

Tag match of Will Ospreay and British Bulldog Jr vs Kip Sabian and Iestyn Rees. Ospreay and Bulldog Jr show off their entire moveset while Sabian and Rees show off all their character work. The match ends in a no-contest when Martin Kirby drags the ref out of the ring and Crater wrecks all four men in the ring. Kirby grabs the mic and says it's a joke that they weren't included in the tournament, and that the tournament will not be allowed to proceed without them. Bennett says he's not rewarding them by putting them in the tournament, so Kirby says he and Crater will not allow any of the tag team matches to happen. Setting up for next week when Ospreay and Bulldog Jr become the guardians of the tournament by stopping Crater and Kirby from ruining it while progressing on themselves. Whenever they have a match they have to concentrate on their opponents and keeping Crater and Kirby out. Eventually Ospreay and Bulldog Jr will become the tag team champs by winning the whole thing, and Kirby and Crater will be their first challengers.

Seg 4:

Singles match between Grado and Rampage. Rampage batters Grado pretty much the entire match, but Grado wins and retains the title after Stu Bennett - in his desperation to get the title off Grado - makes a mistake and costs Rampage the match to close the show with Grado dancing about with the title.

So, the feuds going forward are:

Viper vs Kay Lee Ray
Will Ospreay and British Bulldog Jr vs Martin Kirby and Crater
Grado vs Stu Bennett.

Every week revolves around these feuds which are used as a way to introduce new talent without presenting them as equally important. So, Viper takes on a new heel one week and talks about Kay Lee Ray after the match, Kay Lee Ray takes on a babyface the next week and responds to Viper's comments after her match etc. Ospreay and Bulldog are defending matches they aren't even in from Kirby and Crater, and thwarting Kirby and Crater's interference during their own matches. Stu Bennett is putting a new heel in the ring with Grado in a title match as the main event for each show, and then putting him in with the same guys but in multi-man matches or with different stipulations.

This way, the show has focus and makes it clear who is being promoted and why we should care about the outcome of the matches.
