I know that everyone on the classics board here has to have a match or two that in there head was going to be incredible but wound up being awful. So what are some matches that you really looked forward to that just didn't live up to your hype?

Goldberg VS Brock Lesnar WM20. Seriously I expected those two guys to tear the house down but instead we got an embarrassing joke.
I would also go with the Extreme Elimination Chamber. I was really looking forward to seeing Sabu perform in that match but bang Vince takes him out and replaces him with Bob Holly. False advertising at it's finest.

I've never seen the Extreme Elimination Chamber. In fact I've never seen any WWECW. I'm going to try to watch that match soon.
I'll name a few that I was super disappointed in:
Sting & Hawk Vs The Nasty Boys Starrcade 93 Now I love The Nasty Boys. I love Hawk when he isn't tagging with Animal. I love Sting. This should have been an amazing match given that I like all four guys. I know it's not going to be a spectacular star rated match, but it was not even a star. Whoever thought they should go 30 minutes was crazy. This should have stayed in the 10-15 minute range. In a match full of botches, it's only fitting that Missy Hyatt botched the ending.
Blacktop Bully Vs Dustin Rhodes, Uncensored 95 Do I love me some WCW in 1995. The blame for this match doesn't fall all on to the two in the match. WCW edited the footage so that no blood was shown. It makes me wonder if that original video exist anywhere.
Sting Vs Hollywood Hogan , Starrcade 97 They just needed to do one thing and they didn't do that.
I'm sure there are more but those three pop up in my head.

One that comes to mind for me is Hogan vs Piper from War to Settle the Score in early 85. Not for the in ring work but for the lame DQ. It had great build and everything that fans like me were clamoring to see who would win the war between the two. This match set up the main event for the 1st Mania well but man I was really hoping we got a decisive winner here.

Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels: WrestleMania 12
I could not have been any bigger a wrestling fan than I was at this point. I remember the week leading up to this match. My friends and I all had our picks for what the score would be. I can tell you not one of us had 0-0!
these are no doubt two of the greatest of all time, but they could not put their egos aside and have one of them take that first fall. For years I have heard people say that this match is a masterpiece or that it tells a great story. I watched it live and it was boring back then and it is even more boring now. As the challenger, Shawn Michaels should have taken the first fall IMO, but during this time there was no way in hell that was going to happen.

Goldberg vs Lesnar at WM 20 Foley vs Flair 2 outta 3 falls
And more recently AJ v Nak at mania...after seeing those two kill each other in Japan, I wasn't expecting such a snoozer.

I am a huge Shawn Michaels fan as most know, but there are two matches that come to mind of his that I absolutely hated.
Wrestlemania XII vs. Bret Hart is the first. I have tried watching that match over and over and over again, but I can never enjoy it. It's not the length of it either, even then I just feel both men were trying to out due the other, with at the same time trying to make the other look bad.
Secondly....
Bad Blood 2004 vs. Triple H in the Hell in a Cell match. That match almost went an hour, and it was just brutal. I didn't care for it at all. The ending sucked, with seeing Triple H take forever to lay his arm over HBK for the win.

HBK vs Mr. Perfect from SSlam 93 is another one. A match they hyped up as ''making of an all time classic'' but in the end fell flat. A lot of it has to do with Michaels being out of shape but still. Imagine what could've been if this match lived up to the hype.

Most of the people have listed the most disappointing matches. I'll add in this:
No Way Out 2003 - Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock II. Thought this was going to go in Hulk's favour so they can set up a third confrontation down the road with the Rock going over in the end, but instead the "lights go off" and Vince interferes blah. I get they were pushing for Hulk vs. Vince at WM 19.
Summerslam 2006 - Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Orton - The Legend Killer practically dies here, wth? You have one of the best damn characters and pushes in years and what better way for the "Legend Killer" to win, than to beat the ultimate legend Hulk Hogan? Nope let's bury Orton so down the road he can become the dull and boring "Viper".

It went something like 48 minutes and at least 15 of those minutes were spent with those two on their back. Plus that finish had the stink of the WM 19 finish with Booker all over it.

Hmmmm. I have quite a list of these I must say. In no order....
1) Sting vs Hollywood Hogan @ Starrcade 97 & Superbrawl 98. Jesus...….after all that build.
2) HBK vs Bret Hart @ WM12. Absolute snoozefest…….50 mins of rest holds.
3) Goldberg vs Lesnar @ WM20. Now if it had went ahead as originally booked before Brock announced he was going? then it would have been excellent. But Vince decided to make a joke out of it.
4) Austin vs Rock @ WM17. The ending just absolutely KILLS it stone dead for me. I mean murders it in cold blood. awful awful awful.
5) HHH vs Orton @ WM25(?) Jesus....where did HHHs thirst for revenge go? did he leave it in the parking lot alongside Ortons desire to perform? absolute tripe. SO disappointing. Neither man looked like he wanted to be there.
6) HHH vs Steiner @ RR03......ahhhhhh Good God.
7) HHH vs Jericho/Nash/HBK in HIAC. 3 dreadful outings IMO-but he redeemed himself against Batista in the cell.
8) Nash vs Hall @ Halloween Havoc 98. I mean....what was the point of this at all?
9) Hogan vs Warrior @ Halloween Havoc 98. I dunno what I was expecting....but Jesus this wasn't it LOL.
10) Steiners vs Outsiders @ Souled Out 97. None of their matches were up to the mark.....
that's my list of ones I genuinely groaned at.

Daffney vs Ms Hancock Wedding Gown Match Bash at the Beach 2000. Yeah I know it's one of the worst PPVs in WCW history. I was disappointed when they didn't wear actual wedding gowns. Totally misleading match

All I remember from his run was him trying to sing Springsteen's Born in the USA at No Mercy 2004.

HHH vs Booker T at Wrestlemania 19. The way HHH waited forever to finally cover Booker made Booker look a bit weak.
