I think there should've been a three match program with Flair starting with Hulk winning the title at Bash at the Beach 94, a "rematch of the century" at Halloween Havoc 94 where Flair wins by countout, and finishing the feud at Starcade 94 (instead of the Butcher wth!) in a steel cage match with Hulk going over. In 95, I would've kept Hogan vs. Vader for SuperBrawl V, make Vader win by countout, and at Uncensored have Hogan go over, but also one big final match in a steel cage at Slamboree with Hogan defending the title. Then you can have that tag match with the "Megapowers" vs. Flair and Vader at Bash at the Beach. At Fall Brawl 95, DEFINITELY do Hulk Hogan vs. LEX LUGER. What a missed opportunity wasted on Nitro and finally Hogan vs. Giant to end Hogan's reign at Halloween Havoc 95. I think the real goal and focus for Hulk Hogan should be that Sting gets the title off of the Giant, so that eventually you can get to Hogan vs. Sting. Your thoughts?

Hogan defending the belt against Brutus in the main event of what was supposed to be WCW's biggest show of the year was embarrassing. The retirement cage match should have been at Starrcade for sure. But, you know, what Hulk wants...Hulk gets.

From what I remember hearing from Flair in his shoot interview, Hogan was to win the Title at Bash at the Beach, lost the Title back to Flair at Clash of the Champions, and then Hogan wins the belt back at Halloween Havoc.
Because they didn't do that, they still needed a big stipulation for Halloween Havoc, so they came up with Flair having to retire if he loses. I believe the way they pitched it was, "how would you like 6 months off from wrestling?" So Flair went with it since they had no other options.

I know one thing I would've did different and that would be changing that God awful Starrcade 94 main event with Hogan/Butcher. Personally I'd have Vader beat Duggan sooner for the US Title then challenge Hogan in a title vs title match at the big event. Vader would go over in the end and pin Hogan clean to win both belts!!
I know this would never happen with Hogan's ego but hey a guy can dream can't he?

I don't think Vader could have won the belt any sooner than he did though.
Duggan won the belt in September over Austin, the rematch happened in October, and then December Vader won the US Title.
Hogan was stuck in that old school, 'my best friend turned on me, gonna have the pay off match, this will be huge' though process with Beefcake here, and fans just didn't give a rats ass.

The thing that really makes this whole feud pointless and a waste a time was by early 96 Beefcake was revealed as a mole in the DOD so that whole time he was feuding with Hogan he was still his friend??!! They had him ''turn'' on em only to reveal that a little over a year later. Man oh man this company.

Flair defeats Hogan by Nefarious means in their 2nd PPV. The Cage match(which was excellent) then has an added zing to it.
I would have had Vader defeat Hogan in their first encounter too.....the build to their rematch could have been epic in fairness.
