The Nexus angle was red hot in the summer of 2010. Raw was so compelling, just because of it. But, poof after Summer Slam 2010 it gone. Cm Punk leading them, to everything it just was garbage after that point. How might the angle would of worked? And what would be the long term side effects of a solid Nexus angle.

If Nexus wins at SummerSlam that year, the angle works. Instead, Cena killed it.

it was just so thrown together - but whoever scripted the initial invasion of them taking out cena did an excellent job.
the guys were so damn green too.
by the time they gave it to punk it was broken beyond repair.

I remember Edge and Jericho even saying to Cena, that Nexus should go over. Years later, Cena said to them, "yeah, you were right." Too little, too late then.

I personally loved the concept. Punk ass rookies who are hungry, want to take out everything. The only issues that was said, everyone was so green. Wade Barret, would become so much better within the next year on TV compared to this. And I mean Justin Gabriel and the in ring style. Outanga had the look. But everyone else's current character at the time was so rough. And creating up to 7 characters at once was rough? But, I feel like this angle was compelling enough to go until a WrestleMania.

The initial "invasion" angle where they took everybody out and destroyed the ring was pretty damn good. Everything after that fell flat for a number of reasons.
1.) They were too new. The general audience had no idea who these guys were and they were given no time to develop any kind of individual persona as they were immediately thrown into a main event storyline.
2.) They needed to win that Summerslam match. Winning that match would have given them some legit credibility. That loss was the nail in the coffin for Nexus as the group would be on life support for the rest of its days.
3.) Wade Barrett's "Wasteland" is the worst finisher ever. It absolutely sucked. 110% terrible. Parents tuck in their newborn with more force.

I actually started watching WWE again after a long pause when the Nexus came to be.

WWE needs to stop booking invasion angles. This is, what the third time they tried and botched it?

I actually started watching WWE again after a long pause when the Nexus came to be. Same here. WrestleMania 26 was my first PPV in a few years. The Nexus angle was the hottest thing in wrestling and was working ... til SummerSlam 2010. How Vince could justify that booking is beyond me. You have a hot angle, a hot young faction, and cut them off at the knees not even 6 months into it. The Nexus wins that match, and they continue to generate revenue well into 2011. God, they even had to have Cena beat almost half the team on his own no less. Only thing i can think of is Vince had NO real long term plans for them to be anything of note as a group. and even once they started getting the reactions and the crowd interest, Vince being Vince did his usual " Screw what the fans want! I'm sticking to MY plan!!"

I always felt this was the right way to do a "NWO in WWF" angle, and you're right Vince buried it and I kept thinking wth happened to Barrett and started to lose interest. The only thing I was interested in was, CM Punk's run and Cena vs. the Rock. Other than that I lost interest again and haven't been watching lately at all.
