Unless Owen died by other means he would still be alive. Firstly he would have never been 'punished' in the Blue Blazer gimmick, as he would have still been used in the Hart faction and not in a storyline with Debra. Even if he wasn't, Bret would have never permitted Owen to do the stunt. I don't think he was punished. He didn't like the direction of the WWE and was happy back in the superhero gimmick Nope, Owen declined an on-screen affair with Debra because he didn't want his kids to think he was cheating (or something to that effect). They put him in the Blue Blazer gimmick as a punishment for not complying because it was well known he hated it. |

Either Bret vs Angle or Bret vs Jericho would have been solid gold classic feuds. Imagine a triple threat right there. I would love to have seen like,a year long feud between Bret and Angle that culminated with Bret passing the torch.
