Finished listening, they basically give us an idea of what the podcast will be about, we get a feeling for their personalities, etc. I'm in. Regarding the retros- I hate seeing people lose the toy lines they love, but if there simply isn't enough interest then it's time to clear that shelf space (or hire a customizer). I'm 30, I had some of those old WWF and MOTUC and TMNT stuff, but I have no nostalgia for them, especially not with all the amazing sculpts and articulation on modern figures. There are collectors who like certain aesthetics, and I don't want them to suffer the end of their hobby, but I can't afford to hemorrage money to support their hobby as well as mine. Not only would getting rid of Retros save people money, I'm guessing it would add to the Elite (and sadly probably basics) budget.
It really is time to end that line.
What would add to the Elites budget? Bill has said time and time again one lines budget has nothing to do with another’s. Whenever a wwe line is canceled that money doesn’t go back to Bill to use on the Elites or Basics. Mattel puts it into another new line in their company. It could be Barbies, DC, Hot Wheels fisher Price, etc. but it doesn’t get added to an existing lines budget. So why cancel it when there’s clearly people out there who want them?

People aren't going to have anything added to or taken away from the popular Elite figures if people like me that love the Retro figures get to keep buying them. Nobody should have a problem with the Retro line being on shelves just because they never liked Hasbro style figures or are indifferent to them.

Because clearly not enough people want them if we're even having conversations like this, started by the very people who collect them. Browski is even pleading. Obviously it's not up to us what lines get canceled, they get canceled when they stop being profitable and need to be replaced by something else. (assuming this isn't entirely a problem with how stores handle their stock)

This is where the complaining about supporting the retro line annoys me. How about making them readily available!? I bought the first series as soon as they hit store shelves. Then I waited for series two.....and waited.....and waited as the third series was arriving in stores. I’m glad I eventually got series two but it was after finding them at Ollie’s. Now I’ve been waiting for the fourth series and nothing.....
Frankly I order enough figures online, do I honestly need to do the same with the retros? Because if that’s my only hope I’m not even going to bother. They don’t come out as frequently as basics or elites and stores either can’t stock them correctly or Mattel can’t properly get to retailers. Either way, as a customer with money in my hand......neither is my problem.

I haven’t listened to this yet as I just moved and have been very busy but I will comment based on the replies. I’m sure Ryder and Hawkins hear from Bill about the possibility that the retro line gets canceled because not enough people are buying. However being who they are, they can go to Ringside anytime and pick up what they want so they probably don’t see or notice how bad distribution might be. I don’t collect the retro line so I don’t know. What I do know is that my Target is loaded with them and that I have seen them at big lots before, which doesn’t appear good for the line. However, with that said I order nearly all of my figures online (with the exception of store exclusives) so I personally don’t even notice if any retail stores skip an Elite set because I’m not actively looking for them.
I personally am not annoyed by Hawkins & Ryder saying to support the line. However, I do get bothered when Mattel says support the line for lines that the distribution is poor for. I support and usually buy all the figures in the store exclusives such as the NXT, HOF, HOC, Network Spotlight etc, but distribution for some of these lines (especially the Target exclusives) is awful and holds up restock of future sets, and usually after 3 or 4 Series the line ends up being canceled. It’s been 8 years since Mattel got the WWE license and distribution is still awful. Retail dying doesn’t help either.
I hope the retro line continues for those who enjoy it! I personally have no interest though. I collected Hasbros when I was younger and while I think the line is really cool, action figures have come such a long way for me to be interested.

Put them in stores and we will buy them.

It's gotten to the point when once I check for my Nano Metalfigs I collect, I just feel like I'm wasting my time turning the corner checking for any new Retro figures. It feels at this point like they are an Internet exclusive line and if that does happen in full I def. won't be able to keep up. I would have backed off from the get-go if I knew that Mattel were more about making this a tribute to the Hasbro WWF green card series lol.

Mattel has talked about this A MILLION times -- lines have separate budgets. Getting rid of the Retro line won't increase the budget for elites and basics, just like getting rid of something we all hate (like Zombies) won't increase the budget for elites and basics. They're separate. Some people never listen. Very frustrating lol hearing the same incorrect arguments

The retro line is something very different to the elite and basic lines. Asking people to support the line is fine, but someone doesnt like the figures, they wont buy them just because a couple of fading jobbers asked them to, make cool stuff and make it available, and people will buy it

At $10 a piece, its very affordable to collect and support. Think of it this way, as long as sales are up, the line will continue. The longer it continues the more likely you are to get the characters you want. It is also important to keep a steady conversation on how everyone wants each character to look. Wanting less of a certain mold and more of another. It is very likley that sales could drive a cage that was never originally released. We could see classic style belts, and more. It all comes down to sales and support.

Other than the couple that aired on the WWE Network it’s just not something I bother with so I don’t know what they said. But that being said of course they (Ryder & Hawkins) will want to tell everyone to support the line, because they are fans of it and want more figures. That makes sense. We were saying it on this board with the Matty Legends figure because everyone here was saying they were going to buy them when they were announced, but once Mattel started releasing them only a few of us here were actually buying them. While everyone else that had said they would were complaining about the price and shipping cost. So we were saying if we wanted more others here need to support the line like they initially said they would. I am sure once the retailer distribution centers actually send the product to their stores they’ll move just like the initial shipments of the first waves did. Of course some will pegwarm after the initial shipments, but the same can be said with any line. Should they consider canceling the Elites because you can seemingly walk into any retailer that carries them and find multiples of the E54(?) Charlotte?

No Elite is a core line that isn’t going anywhere, BUT I hope it makes them figure out that double packing the female figures is a mistake. No matter if it’s got a cloth robe or whatnot There is no denying this Retro mess. They can’t get them in Wal Mart. That’s got to hurt big time. Online got S3 in Summer’17, GameStop got them Nov ‘17 and Target gets them Feb ‘17? Nothing in the stores since then? That’s a problem. I’m a loose collector but on these I’m buying 2 each. 1 MOC & 1 loose. Not trying to buy online. Hard to support a line that never hits retail.

Apart from Charlotte name one recent female elite that has shelfwarmed that hard. Lita sure didn't, Becky Lynch didn't, Alexa Bliss didn't... even Stephanie McMahon didn't. I was lucky to see those in stores maybe twice. I never saw Sasha Banks at retail, at all. I know there's more than a few that collect females only, which is why you're more likely to find the HHH/HBK exclusives at Walgreens than the females, even though they're older. I've yet to find Maryse. Charlotte is warming because she's Charlotte. Listen to the crowd reaction to her winning the title at Summerslam to know why people won't pick her up.
