The 80s it was Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, Bam Bam Bigelow, Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs, Demolition, and Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake.
The early 90s it was Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Randy Savage, Diesel, Razor Ramon, 123 Kid, Money Inc., Lex Luger, The Steiners, The Quebecers, Tatanka, Bam Bam Bigelow, British Bulldog and Owen Hart.
The late 90s it was Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, British Bulldog, Owen Hart, Steve Austin, Triple H, X-Pac, New Age Outlaws and The Brood.
That is just my WWE list though. I could go on and on if I did WCW and ECW as well.

I forst started watching WWF in the build up to Survivor Series ‘91 & was immediately hooked on American wrestling. Was already a fan of British wrestling. My faves there was Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks and Kendo Nagasaki, although I enjoyed watching Tom Thumb matches. I don’t really remember many of the others from back then, although I have seen a lot online since. Same with WWE. As soon I was into it, I got books, magazines and videotapes and caught up with WWF from the start of the Hogan era.
So my number one wrestler was Davey Boy, the British Bulldog. I was also a huge Hogan fan and would argue it with my pals over him and Ultimate Warrior. I liked everyone really for all their differences, but I was also particularly fond of Randy Savage, The Bushwhackers, Sid Justice, Legion of Doom, Roddy Piper, Virgil, Jimmy Snuka and Mr Perfect.

For the 80s there were too many to list. Hogan was obviously at the top of the list and you might as well make a thread about "who you were NOT a fan of growing up".

(Early 90s) As a child growing up: Well I rooted for Sting, Brad Armstrong, Randy Savage
(Late 90s, Early 2000s) As a teen: Sting, Nash, Rock, Hall, Austin, Luger, DDP, Brad Armstrong, Randy Savage Glacier, Goldberg I also wished to be any of the men managed by Kimberly. lol
(2006-2014) Young Adult: AJ Styles, Sting, Trish Stratus, Stacy Keibler
(2014 - Current) Adult: Sting, AJ Styles, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss.
Those are whom I actively cheer. When I look back in history though, I realize I was a fan of Hogan and Flair but only because they were amazing heels who I respect because of how good they were at their jobs.

First getting into it in 89', Hogan all the way until he left the company in 92' and then again in 93'.
Secondarily, loved Warrior, and Macho.
And then in New Gen Era, Shawn, Bret, Razor, Diesel.
Attitude era, Austin, Rock.
WCW, started watching in 94' and again, Hogan and Macho until Hall and Nash came in.
Also way into Benoit, DDP, and later on Goldberg.
