David Cook's version is my favorite. He's got a gravel to his voice that adds quite a bit to the song and I think the dramatic rock arrangement is really good. Of those three I prefer the Beatles. One of my favorite songs.

Which version of Eleanor Rigby is better? I think both the Fray and Ray Charles versions are better than the original. (Mostly because I hate the Beatles; but also because their versions are good.) How on earth can the words "I hate" be followed by "The Beatles" in the same sentence? |

I don't even understand the point of this thread. If it was just to hammer on about how much you hate the Beatles, why the hell would you even put them on the list?
Just make a thread titled "God, I hate the Beatles!"

They really are, they're just a bunch of British guys with dumb hair cuts and terrible songs that the covers out do the originals But any cover would still use the music and lyrics of Lennon/McCartney. The Fray cover misses the point. The original piece is a very somber and The Fray add to much emotion to the lyrics. They also repeat the refrain to many times, but The Fray has a habit of having songs that are just a chorus over and over again. |

Very easily, iyam and millions of other people across the world. They're one of the most influential and groundbreaking bands of all time. [<--- That much is undeniable.] Guess it's just foreign to hear that much hatred for them from one person. I get not liking them, but to call them overrated, is very much a stretch. |
