how do you guys compare wrestlers it’s not really like basketball for example where there is stats to back up opinions but in pro wrestling what do people go off?

Charisma and character believability is really the only way. What wrestlers can get the most people to care about them.
Because somebody like Hogan is proof that you don't have to be a good wrestler as long as you have a character that people believe in.
And good wrestlers with dull personalities are proof that JUST being a good wrestler isn't enough to get people to care about you.

I agree but as of in ring performance where you go off the eye test it’s all subjective

IMO it's so subjective, it's not worth trying to establish an official ranking.

I dot try to compare. I just like who I find entertaining. Win/lose record and title reigns don’t mean anything to me

IMO it's so subjective, it's not worth trying to establish an official ranking. This is ultimately the bottom line. You can genuinely think Bo Dallas is the best total package performer on the roster and that's all that matters. It's choreographed and predetermined live theatre. There is nothing not art about pro wrestling. So what is good or bad is singular to the perspective of the individual viewer. It's also why Vince McMahon largely does whatever he wants, despite audience reaction. It's his canvas, for better or worse. Everyone is looking for something different out of every wrestler and show. What I love about a wrestler may be the thing you absolutely hate the most. There is nothing to compare but subjective opinion.

I use the Vince McMahon method when comparing wrestlers.
So it goes Roman Reigns.... then everyone else.... the last but not least, Tyler Breeze.

There’s the greatest professional wrestler of all time, The Miz, and there’s the greatest tag team of all time, The IIconics...and then there’s everybody else.

How do you compare actors? How can you tell A-level actors from D-level actors? They have the ability to suspend disbelief. Actors go to school to learn acting techniques - some are excellent and some are b-level, but great actors also have that "it" factor, that charisma, that charm to pull of any role they step into.
We rant about movesets, or who has more technical prowess, and I'm as guilty as anyone of enjoying Ricochet flipping around all over the place because it's artfully done. But GREAT wrestlers suspend your disbelief. You felt the electricity the Rock talks about, you knew how badass Stone Cold was, you ate your vitamins with Hogan, you believed Space Mountain was the oldest ride with the longest line, and you either dined with Kings and Queens or ate pork and beans because that son of a plumber understood you. These guys are legends for a reason. We can compare movesets til the cows come home, but when history is written, there's just a handful of top guys you can label as the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

It is subjective but at the same time we all know a list of names that would warrant getting slapped if you said they were better than someone like Taker or Flair or Savage.

Tye Dillinger. Everybody else. So a boring, lethargic wrestler and everyone else? Sure, why not.
