I'm no expert myself. Just keeping things fairly simple with my media server build. OSMC is a form of Kodi specialty built to run on a raspberry pi board (actually, I do believe it or something very similar was once referred to as XBMC). I haven't gotten into customizing things too much beyond making my own posters, info files, and thumbnails for a bunch of tv shows. Did set it up to have my wrestling collection nicely displayed and easy to navigate within the osmc system though. But, it's been my understanding that the interface for osmc is very customizable for folks who like to tweak things while being really easy for people who want just want an easy way to stream their own ripped or downloaded media. This isn't the exact guide I used to get started, but it's pretty good for anyone looking to learn about the process... mediaexperience.com/raspberry-pi-xbmc-with-raspbmc/

I used to do it (disc to digital) when our PC worked, but not anymore. Also there were a lot of movies it wouldn’t let me convert. Now whenever I buy a blu ray I make sure it has a digital copy also.
Speaking of streaming has anyone ordered the DC Universe? I did and it works on my phone and tablet, but it doesn’t seem to work on my PS4. The site opens but none of the movies play or comics open on my PS4.

I’ll never go digital. I collect Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray. I used to also say I'd never go digital. But then I got Amazon Prime. On Amazon, like Netflix, you can watch movies and shows. Unlike Netflix though, on Amazon, you can buy movies and shows. So if you go on Amazon and search for a movie, if that movie isnt currently given to you on prime, you can buy it. I bought a show for my son. And that eased me into buying more. I buy a dvd and I can watch that dvd when I'm home in front of my tv/dvd player. If I buy it on Amazon I can watch it when I'm home in front of my tv or I can watch it when I'm anywhere else with my phone in front of me. It's way more convenient than a disc. And with discs you end up with stacks and stacks that take up space.

Was there a main reason that you held back? I personally could never go digital but I'm wondering what was the final straw for you.

Was there a main reason that you held back? I personally could never go digital but I'm wondering what was the final straw for you. I had Netflix back when it was a mail away disc service. USPS is horrible near me so I grew to hate Netflix. Then one day the wife talked me into getting Netflix. It was no longer a mail away service, it is the streaming service we know today. From there I got Amazon. I was looking for a kids show, Paw Patrol, for my son to watch. It was not available to stream but it was available for purchase. So I bought it. Then I bought him the following season, and so on. It showed me how convenient it is to have an entire season of a show at my finger tips. And it also showed me that I didnt have to have a stack of paw patrol discs in my house. So little by little I was buying my son shows and movies and then it grew into buying films I wanted to watch. I had held out because I used to hate the fact that I can buy a movie on dvd and it costs the same as a digital copy. I think/know/knew that a physical dvd copy of a movie costs more to produce. They have to buy DVDs, burn the movie onto the dvd, print up some dvd box covers, buy dvd protective cases, put it all together, box it, ship it, and distribute it to vendors. All of those steps cost money. When you buy a digital copy the film studios save all that money. So why do both a hard copy of a movie and a digital copy cost the same? That really irritates me to think about. I gave in though because digital is more convenient. Buying a digital copy saves me space in my home. The digital copy comes with me where ever I go via my smart phone. I can be at work, in my truck, waiting, and I can key up any movie I want, pretty much, and watch it. And as an an added bonus I dont have to worry about the digital copy getting, lost, stolen, or damaged/screen scratched.

I ended up picking up a Roku stick today so I can watch the DC Universe on a tv. It wasn’t working on the PS3 or PS4.

It is just another streaming device like Amazon Kindle, but it is compatible with the DC Universe app unlike PSN. I think it doesn’t work on the PSN because PS has a game called DC Universe. It was on sale for $40 so I purchased it because I was tired of watching the DCU on my tablet or phone.

One of the biggest reasons I can't do streaming is because of "special features". I love film and to watch a movie with a Director Commentary track talking about the craft of shots, or film historian discuss why a certain director was ahead of there time, it's fantastic. The Scream Factory releases with making of features are some if my favorite. And a whole documentary about a film series like Camp Crystal Lake Memories, forget about it.
I also can't see how people watch movies on there phones. I must admit that up until last year I was still using a flip phone. The only reason I no longer use it is because my wife took it and got the new phone. But it's strange that the evolution went from the big screen, to a smaller tv screen, to something that fits in your pocket. That feels wrong to me.

What movies are you all seeing that cost the same or more for a digital copy? Everything I've seen costs at least a couple dollars less than physical media.
