I hope it gets cancelled. I'm not sh*tting on anybody who actually wants this....but for the 15 people who will actually buy this, I don't think it's worth producing and having it not sell to the point where Mattel decides to cancel future characters that might actually sell. The production of women's figures was nearly crippled by that Mickie James figure in Basic 3 that came out as she was on her way out the door, and Mattel saw a figure of a woman that wasn't selling and decided that it meant that NO WOMAN could ever sell and we got very few figures of women for a while, and the ones we did get were .5 per case and it was a nightmare. So in reality, a figure not selling can have severe repercussions. And again, for the 15 people who actually want this, it's probably not worth it. Again, not sh*tting on anybody who wants this, I get that he has fans and I totally want everyone to get what they want of who they like.....but let's not kill the line here. I'm sure somebody wants Max Moon and Techno Team 2000....but let's be realistic here. Doesn't seem to me like The Shark is doing very well. Usually I agree with you on most things, but definitely not on this. While we can theorize that Mickie James nearly killed the sale of more female wrestlers, the whole WWE women's revolution campaign pretty much ensures that female figures will be coming out ad nauseam. Let's also keep things into perspective that the Toys R Us/Target lines are not the premier lines like the Elite, Basic or Battle Pack series. I think these store exclusive pieces are pretty much a 'vanity' line for Bill. Seriously, who here had Issac Yankem in their top ten wants of all time? Bill liked John Tenta's shark gimmick, and he likes the red rooster gimmick. That's why these things exist. He wasn't making these because of high consumer demand, the market is very very niche. So for the 15 people that want Red Rooster (and I'm #14), I assure you it's not going to kill the line. Shark not doing well is a fact, but I don't think it matters, this line will end when they move on to the next thing like they always do.

Plus, the Shark and Red Rooster were supposed to be TRUs exclusives which we are not going to get anymore of. Mattel just needed a place to put these two since they already produced them. Unless a store is going to ask Mattel to make more of these very niche characters, and it seemed like TRUs was the only store asking for them, I doubt we will see more of these types of figures. Most likely after Red Rooster, Target will just have the regular elite line as well as the HOC's line.

I have been wondering about this very thing- were the TRU online exclusives items off Bill's wish list as there was very little if any demand for any of these?! The only exception might be Virgil as he is more well known due to his involvement in the Golden era, his run in WCW and his behaviour at various conventions. As mksavage pointed out, I doubt we will see anymore of these niche figures released as TRU was the only retailer willing to take a chance on them and they no longer exist. Target agreeing to carry Shark & Red Rooster is just a way for Mattel to get rid of these figures that have already been made and are sitting in a warehouse somewhere. It could also be an experiment of sorts- if these 2 figures sell well then perhaps they might agree to carry others but I don't see that happening due to how niche these characters are. If only Bill liked Hercules or Greg Valentine as much as Rooster.

Hercules might sell a little because of the name alone but probably wouldn’t exactly be selling out quickly. Zeus would be a nice name to go along with Herc 😉

I don't see these as vanity projects for Bill. I think it's just a matter of limited resources/options and budget. I think the reality is that there just aren't that many wrestlers on the list that Bill has to work from. We can debate the why behind that until the cows come home. But there's one segment of the collector base that says why waste a slot on Shark or Taylor when we haven't gotten *insert attire here* of HBK, Warrior, Sting, etc. Meanwhile there's another segment of the audience saying they want new characters, not the 35th Warrior or Savage. The problem is that new characters who would probably sell well - Raven, Jarrett, etc aren't on the list Bill is working from.
I can see both sides of the argument. I think it's absurd that we have as many Elites of Fred Ottman and John Tenta as we do of Ric Flair. Or that we have yet to get Attitude Era Hardyz, with Jeff one bad decision away from his third wellness strike and Matt's in-ring career possibly over.
I'm also thrilled to have Fink, Dillon, Shark, etc on my shelves adding more depth to the respective eras. One of the things I love about my 90-92 WWF collection is how well represented midcard and tag teams are, while other eras feel more star heavy. But it does feel like we're scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Add in the fact that these low production run figures have to be pretty low budget to make the price point and it further shrinks the options Bill is working with. I have my fair share of frustrations with the line, but I think Bill is trying to build a truly comprehensive line with what he has to work with. Ultimately it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Well I guess count me as one is the “15” people who want the red rooster. I didn’t get issac yankem or shark but this feels less of a novelty item then them. Everyone had a gimmick in the 80s wwe Terry Taylor didn’t get the best draw but wasn’t intended to be a joke.

I have my fair share of frustrations with the line, but I think Bill is trying to build a truly comprehensive line with what he has to work with. Ultimately it's damned if you do, damned if you don't. I honestly would not go that far. And yes "these don't have Legends deals/are on the concussion lawsuit of evil" but there are quite a few glaring omissions and figures that could be done much better if remade. The Bulldogs are on the top of that list for sure, but guys like Snuka and Marty Janetty could shine if remade (I think the Restrofest Shawn would've sold much better if there was a Marty too) And that's without going into the Muracos, Hercs, Valentines and all the extras like Monsoon, Fuji, Slick and Ventura. One Man Gang is one proto I wish had been made. With Magnum coming out so much later, there's always hope... but I think OMGs deal is done. And that's without dipping into the NWA side of things. I'd love to have the Rock and Roll, the Midnights and Corny, the Freebirds and Nikita Koloff. And I really wish they made more classic Elite FlairsI get why most of these aren't getting made, but there's still quite a few that a lot of us have been waiting for, and would sell fine. Much better than, say, the Warlords, the Sids and the Yankems (and even those didn't warm for long in my neck of the woods). Just don't overproduce them ala Tito and JYD and we'll be ok. All that being said, bring on my Rooster! I hope to complete the Heenan family one day, or that we at least get Haku and Hercules at some point.

I’m buying three Roosters, one to keep boxed, one to display as the Rooster, and one to remove the mowhawk hair to customize into an old school UWF/World Class Taylor, so if only 15 will ever be sold, count me as #s 1-3. The man was the greatest wrestler to have a career ruined by Vince and it’s an absolute travesty.

Last I heard was when Bill answered in some Q & A that it wouldn't be removable, but that was early going, shortly after they announced the fig.

yeah I also read Bill's Q&A where he said the rooster wattle (yup that's what it's called) is non-removable. I hope it is though, although there will be a very prominent groove in the middle of his head.

I think online only is going to hurt these. Target's online stocking for toys is terrible, so I doubt many people are going to come across it unless they went specifically looking for The Shark. It's a figure that has a very kid-friendly look, if they ever shipped them into stores. Initially I thought we'd see Shark released during SDCC and Rooster during NYCC. I guess that's still possible, but not likely if we haven't seen any promotion yet. But the figures are produced and sitting in a warehouse costing money, so I imagine they'll have them for sale sooner than later. Mattel WWE comic con releases were usually shared exclusives with Toys R Us (Isaac Yankem was SDCC 2017, Virgil was NYCC 2017), so that might be why Shark and Red Rooster were never released at this years conventions. Those 2 figures are something I would buy if I walked into TRU and they showed up on the shelves, but I wouldnt pay $24.99 + tax + shipping online for them.

I'm definitely onboard for a Rooster. I for one love having these niche gimmicks being made and immortalized in plastic. I guess that makes me # 5-6 on the "15 people who want Red Rooster" equation

Thanks for the tip! Already signed up to be notified when they start selling him. With in-store pickup meaning free shipping, he should run $24.99 + tax, which is ok. Beats paying a scalper, or paying $29.99 for a cheap base that plays a clip. I'm already waiting on the Funko Married with Children NYCC figure set anyway
