truthfully, i think Chicago is more likely to add a QB in free agency. they're at that kind of apex where it'd be counter-productive to try to go out and win with a rookie QB, no matter who good that rookie is. they might be better off just adding another veteran ala Tampa with Garcia, and doing what they can with that. because nothing says "rebuilding" like drafting a QB in the top half of the 1st round.
i'm not completely sold that KC will take a QB either, though. supposedly, everyone in the organization loves Brodie Croyle. don't ask me why. *shrug*

I think there are 3 areas where the Cowboys have an advantage/slight advantage:
1. I am not a huge Gostkowski fan, never really have been, but Nick Folk might just be the man right now for his 2 FG's last week, but I just think he is a surer bet with the game on the line than Mr Gostkowski
2. Ben Watson is a freak and eventually could be a Jason Witten, but for right now I think Jason Witten is the better TE and probably 2nd best to Gates, who is really a WR at times. Witten is very sure handed and reliable, where as Ben Watson has been hit or miss, sans last game.
3. The running backs favor the Cowboys, now a healthy Maroney and Sammy Morris provide a great 1-2 punch, even though I think Barber is the best of the four, followed by Maroney, then Jones, Morris.
Other than that, the Patriots have the better QB, WR, O-Line and defense in general.
Maybe not a blowout, but it wont be that close

as much as i hate to feed into the general media perception of games like this, most of the pundits are right: the game could come down to Tony Romo.
like i said in the week 5 thread, its not just that he had 6 turnovers... its that they were legitimately god awful turnovers. i know all turnovers are bad, but usually when a QB throws 5 picks a couple of them are fluky, tipped ball-type INTs. not with Romo, those were 5 bad picks due to 5 bad decisions. Buffalo was sitting back in zones playing the most vanilla of Cover-2 schemes, and Romo was just forcing crap into places that he shouldn't have. he absolutely can't do that against NE. in fact, he has to play essentially spotless football if they want to have a chance against the Pats.
Belichick is an infinitely better coach than Wade Phillips, and especially when it comes to gameplanning. Phillips needs to step it up and cater a gameplan that gets the offense rolling early without requiring Romo to do too much. translation: a healthy dose of Barber and Jones, with some intermediate Witten/slot receiver stuff mixed in. until the defense gets worn down, and Romo gets into his comfort zone... then he can start taking shots.

Really? I don't know... The Cowboys offense has been playing superbly well this year. I know the Patriots have had a good offensive line for a long time, but the Cowboys offensive line has to be one of the best in the league as well. Even if the Patriots do have a better line, I'm not convinced that it's significantly better. Either way, though, you're definitely right that the Cowboys are out-matched in most areas. The Cowboys really have to hope that Terence Newman is at or near 100% this week. He's the only chance they have to *containing* Randy Moss.

Yeah I do not know much about the Cowboys O-Line, but the fact that Brady was not touched for 3/5 games this year, I just assumed. They are 2nd in sacks allowed. Where as Dallas is 7th.
Not to mention their offensive line has put them at 3rd most rushing yards a game with Sammy Morris running the ball....Sammy Morris. Where as Dallas is 7th.

i haven't really gotten a close look yet at how Dallas's O-line is gelling. Davis was a big FA acquisition and I liked the idea of keeping him at guard; and Colombo needs to prove that his contract year last season wasn't a fluke, and that he's not gonna resort back to the player he was in Chicago. the right side of the line seems shaky to me, for those reasons.
the Patriots line has often been overlooked, but its been one of the best units in the league for the last few years. Stephen Neal might be the best OL that no one talks about, and the left side of Light/Mankins is dominant at times.

Says Patriots coach Bill Belichick of Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware, "We saw a lot of him in college when he came out in the draft. I thought he was probably the best player in that draft."
Eat your heart out, Alex Smith and Shawne Merriman

Players are more likely to get banged-up along the way than remain in perfect health... unless they're Brett Favre or Peyton Manning or someone. It's expected. This curse hooey is just that: HOOEY!
